72% out of "Over 31 thousand people" really wanted to buy an AMD Radeon.

This goes to show how important is that AMD finally focused on top level performance, because neither with the RX Vega 64 nor with RX 5700 XT they met the expectations and performance targets set by the gamers.

Sooo what do you think of the 3060/3070ti rumours, not even out yet!.
It seems crazy to let rumours of the latter out.

2080 perf for $400, 2070 for 300..or less...
You think they'll be cheaper?!
3060 yeah definitely, the 3070 might drop , allowing a ti at it's price but that's a lot.

This means 3080 and 3060 with the same perf $. Usually for 50% perf end up paying double, this is 1,5*1,5 faster, what is this even a 3050. 3070 14Gbps is barely faster than 2080S. If 3080 has 50% more shaders and 70% more bandwidth. Just unavoidable 3070 should cost 350 at best.

Need to see the actual performance benchmarks before I decide on an Ampere card or not.

Seems cheap, isn't it ?
Now if people think, many many years ago 300-400$ for a graphics card would mean a lot of money, it's like now getting a network card or sound card for 300-400$, it's crazy.
These GPU's are so overpriced it's insane, it's not hard to see that you can buy a PS5 or next gen Xbox for 400-500$ with 1tb ssd,CPU,GPU,RAM, the whole system, and on PC for that money you only get a GPU .

You are aware there are exponentially more uses for a PC than a console, right? All three of your posts since you joined touch on the same tired ass point.

But everyone talks about gaming, if you talk gaming you have to compare it to consoles and i see no way way how even a 200$ gpu is worth it, old games and bad ports on PC compared to consoles where you get 5 years or more of good games with excellent graphics from the start.
What i want is for people to understand that Nvidia and soon Amd have no place in charging the absurd amount of money for these GPU's, they can't bullshit Microsoft and Sony but it seems they can fool some of us thinking 300-400$ for a gpu is cheap.

Yeah, if you look at it solely through a gaming lens, I hear ya. But, as I said, think outside of what your console can't do for $500. It's only been recently where console image quality has been close to what you can get on a PC. Now that it is in the ballpark, things are a bit different. Still, a PC can be used for SO many things outside of gaming... it isn't really fair to compare the two. If I had only one choice, I'd pay $2K for a PC over a $500 console any day. :)

That said, I can build a PC for 4K/60 for ~$1000 total seeing how 2080 Ti's are going for $500 (cpu doesn't matter nearly as much) and if a 3070 = 2080ti $500 new...

That is why it's cheap, perfect for 240Hz. To have 1Gb on-die 32bit channet not broken would probably cost a ton. 3070 is 40% slower and 30% cheaper, this is not how it usually works. 2060 was 40% slower and 50% cheaper, so 3070 is in fact what 3060 should have been and cost $350. But since 8nm is back port of 6nm 65,6Mtr density we get 628mn chip instead of 420mm2. And the whole product stack is messed up. And got plagued by shortages with this new memory type that wasn't truly needed. 3070 isn't 2080Ti, but 2080 Super instead, so 17400 transistors up from 13600 would be such a waste if it isn't at least 28% faster.

But how, Jensen said it was safe to upgrade now, i guess they caclucated things wrong with their AI network, so it turns out it wasn't quite safe just yet.

To me would be safe when I get 2,6 better performance at the same price point. and that better be 2,6 years later so that I can sell it with some warranty left.

So i need 3080 5nm 420mm2 shrink at $500 next year, 3080 really won't cut it but lets say it will. or Ill be forced to stick with my 2070.

I voted 3070 (pending the AMD release), if it matches a 2080Ti and draws 220w max it's a winner IMO and anything else for my 1440p setup would be a waste.

72% out of "Over 31 thousand people" really wanted to buy an AMD Radeon. This goes to show how important is that AMD finally focused on top level performance, because neither with the RX Vega 64 nor with RX 5700 XT they met the expectations and performance targets set by the gamers.

I don't really "want to buy" anything in particular. But being a "hardware whore", I want to leave "leave the prom" with the card with the best numbers (performance / heat / noise) . Nvidia claims 90% improvement, AMD is claiming 50% . Fanbois on both sides are claiming "those guys are full of BS" while their guys are "right on the money". Neither will live up to their claims.

While we're advising everyone to wait, it's not the "will wait for RDNA2" option in the poll .... but instead wait till ....

a) The reviews aren't put and until they are "which" brand / series to but remains in question
b) Wait till the price adjusts to demand ... those who have to be the 1st on the block to have the new shiny thing will hold pricing up for months.
c) Best to avoid the mistakes (EVGA 570 frying VRMs, 970s where 1/3 heat sink misses GPU, 1060, 1070, 1080 VRM fires, MSI "Tapegate" where initial shipments resuklted in uses breaking their cards because the tape supplier used overly aggressive adhesive on the tape which held fans in place during shipping
d) Production line improvements in crease you chances in silcon lottery
e) And AMDs cards release, not because I think they will be faster, but because the release willy impact pricing

Here's why I don't think RDNA2 will impact the top tiers.

a) the 5600 XT was a great card, the best horse AMD has put in this class race in a long time, but I don't see them stretching that technology into the top tiers just yet.
b) Most peeps forget that the last time nVidia struggled to take the performance crown was when they had the console contract. While the contract pays the bills and keeps people employed, margins are very low and company focus may not at times be where it needs to be.
c) AMD stole a bit of market share with the last gen low to mid range cards but since nVidia matched the price cuts, according to the latest report from Jon Peddie Research, AMD has lost 9% market share dropping from 29% to 20%. While both companies had better quarters than last, "AMD’s overall shipments rose by 8.4 percent, while NVIDIA’s soared 17.8 percent"

But again while it's fun to speculate, needless to say, I won't be ordering my boutonnier for this year's "prom" just yet, I'm gonna wait till we know who the prom queen is, and only deciding what color my boutonnier will be till I know whether the prom queen is wearing a red dress or a green dress. That being said ... looking at the industry pundits as the equivalent of dress shops ... so far, Im seeing more green dresses than red in the windows.

Depends on the reviews, if the reviews are favorable on Wednesday, I will be trying to get a 3080 since I am rebuilding by old PC(I still run an old 3770k) to the Zen 3 when it launches. Gaming is not a primary focus for me though but my 1070+VR=Time To Upgrade.

I'm waiting for RDNA2, but i would like to replace my 3-4 years old but good-ish RX570 8GB card in the same price range as it was released in 2016 around 200-250 € and 8 GB is must for me in/for 2020+.

Don't know what options i'll have on the AMD side and how good their drivers will be, but i most definitely don't like the increased princing on both side and don't like that the AMD/RTG was too eager to follow NV's pricing, when specwise the 5700 was very similiar to the 580 but 100€ more expensive, so i'm not in that much of a hurry to buy anything from them as soon as possible..
