Cheers to all,
Why no more win 10 driver for R9 Fury X since 2021 on may???The last driver was 21.5.2 released on 11may 2021.Why red camp abandoned this graphic card?Is still a decent card and i have problem with Farcry 6 because driver is not up to date.I mean i can play this game at minimum settings with 1280x720 and vram memory fill up tp 3.72 -3.93GB,and sometime my fps drop to 10-15fps and become unplaylable and i suspect is from old driver.Green camp have driver up to date for ANY model of their vga card...Why?

For me is the last card of this red camp.I don t want to hear of AMD anymore in my whole life..............I understand they abandoned driver for win 8.1,BUT for win 10 too?I write on amd forum about this problem and im really curious what they answer

Signed.....a former client of red camp !! :toast:

I swear Nvidia have done the same with some of their older stuff. You can always upgrade?

Your game performance issue is full vram. This is purely PEBCAK.

That is true.

FYI early GCN they stopped Supporting, (R9) they are still supporting RX. So just use the last known working driver. I did on a R7 250X for Windows 11, no instability at all and its a W10 driver)

Your game performance issue is full vram. This is purely PEBCAK.
When I have more time I will get an 8G 290X/390X VaporX/Nitro, possibly a Vega 64 Nitro and do some testing myself lol.

The game itself say 4 GB vram is enough with settings at low and with resolution of 1280x720.

I think 4GB nowaday it become insufficient. For the future game, 6 GB vram is safe,at least. In this case gtx 980 Ti is way better than my card, cuz have extra 2 GB vram.....

Anyway sometime i play 3-4 hours without problem, and sometime after 30 min of playing i encounter massive drop frame..i think 4 GB vram is not enough for Farcry 6 even with lowest setting and resolution,or maybe old driver,i don t know :(

Don t think so.I check their driver site and they offer latest drivers even on old series card like 600 or 700 series,on all version of windows.AMD sucks, they never care about old vga card. For example gtx 980ti is the same age like my Fury X ,they released both in 2015,but 980Ti still have latest driver version on all windows version even for win 7 or 8.For my R9 the latest driver for win 10 is may 2021,and for win 8.1 the latest driver is 17.7 -2017.Figure it....

4GB isn't enough. The game runs after all, but it doesn't run smoothly, because it runs into its limits from time to time.

It s run smoothly believe me, until i have massive drop frame.I encounter drop frame sometime not always.Sometime i play hours without problem and some time in some regions of game ,drop frame....After restart again play ok.
Anyway i understand my card is obsolete.Im so sad because my card have potential,is still a strong card with 268 gigatexel/s and 512 GB/s bandwith, but have lack vram :(

It can play retro games fine. Use it for that ;) Anything past 2020 is just going to be difficult.

To be fair it was never exactly a gaming card. It can haul ass in compute.

one question.if i buy another r9 fury card for CROSSFIRE, Vram is total of 8GB or 2x4 GB? :|

So much power on this card and lack of vram it s unbelievable.....The problem is i love so much this game Farcry 6,but i don t want to buy another card only for this .For example r9 390 is weaker than r9 fury x for sure, but have 8GB vram and in farcry 6 don't encounter problem on lowest settings. But are many people with gtx vide card with 4gb vram like me and they don t have drop frame issue.I still believe drivers is important too,and AMd don t care about old vga card, that's why i hate them so much :(

Ubisoft is said GTX 960 with 4gb vram is enough for minimum settings, and i believe my r9 fury X is way better than gtx 960.Look my vram is filled up upt to 3.48GB,sometime 3.72GB.I never check with MSi afterburner if my vram is filled up over 4GB.I think i must try to see this...

4GB should be fine for FC6 as shown here played with GTX 1650.

It does go over 4GB slightly, but doesn't seem to matter.

In game i have 76-81 fps and memory fill up to 3904 MB,im still curios is fill over 4 GB.i have only 100 MB remain....

Every hardware manufacturer has a cutoff point for driver support, regardless of device, eg printers, scanners and yes, graphics cards. You'll have the same issue with NVIDIA at some point. Look, the 780 Ti driver support was discontinued recently and this is still a good card from 2014. I know, because I've got two that I used in SLI for a while.

The only answer is to replace the card with a new, current generation model. Don't buy used crap off eBay. I see you're done with AMD, but they're really not that awful. Personally, I've used NVIDIA since 2009 with the GTX 285 and haven't looked back, so I can recommend NVIDIA, pending affordability and availability, of course. Modern AMD cards are decent too, though. Don't get anything with less than 8GB RAM.

The guy I bought my 980 Classified from in 2017 had the R9 Fury X as well.. said it was a beast. He had to sell one so he ditched the 980, both are 4GB cards iirc. He refilled its AIO and was in love again

The 980 had a rattle in a fan that was fixed with a quick twist of the screwdriver. It’s running right now.. might try an AMD card.. not sure yet.. my last one was a
an Asus 4890. It did 1GHz core but nothing on the mems.

Check the video I posted above. It doesn't matter. 60fps on 0.1% lows.

No, its fine for 1080p. I have one here now & typing this on that machine. It's memory bandwidth was market leading at the time & AMD did not catch up to HBM tech with GDDR tech until RDNA came out in terms of memory performance.

The first Titan is good for 1080p, doesn't mean it was specifically made for gaming. The Fury cards were typically just better for compute with all the memory bandwidth, that not many many games need.

If anything I can always plop my 1650s (4GB) and test FC6 on 1080p. See if it's actually driver or game.

Edit: Maybe 280/7950 crossfire? That'd be nifty.

is not discontinued like my card.Look.Last release was in may 2022. Just 1 month, not 1 year like in my case

7 years driver support isn't the worst thing in the world? I have a 5600 XT and the last few driver releases whilst they support the 5000 cards, all of the performance improvements are for 6000 series, that's a 3 year old GPU :banghead:

I know.8GB vram is must have for the future.11GB vram for gtx 1080ti is blessing.I think that card will never die.....Next card will i buy is gtx 1080ti to be sure 10 years i don t have problem with game vram....

Yes it is still "supported" but I would hazard a guess that it just works with the latest drivers and hasn't had any optimisations or improvements for years, essentially just like the OP, a modern driver will work but don't expect any kind of support

if you stay at 1080p sure.... but the rasterization performance with newer titles will tank long before the vRAM does, high end GPU will be good for maybe 5 years, after that your mileage will vary
