lets speculate. I am wondering if crysis 2 will recommend a quad core for its physics or not.

i have recently upgraded to a Q8400 and overclocked it to 3.60ghz. wondering if it will be enough for crysis 2 and future games for sometime to come.

i think a quad core at 3.60ghz is pretty fast for new and future games. is it right?

Yes i beleave it will be more then enough to do the job!

Fill in your system specs always nice to see the rest of the system.

why wouldnt it recommend it?

now if they say it is the minimum ... theeeeen you may wanna worry ;)

I'm thinking the min requirements from Crysis 1 were crap and they will continue to say that a P4 w/a DX9 gpu w/128MB of dedicated memory will suffice.

Minimum requirements are crap IMO.

He wants to know recomended though. a Quad at 3.5ghz is lots.

played medium setting 1024x768 on a 2.4ghz athlon64 1gb of ram and a 256mb 7800GS they would be playable on the min requirements

no, i dont think any new games or even games in the future will actually require you to have a quad core as minimum .LOL. that would be very silly.

maybe in 5 years or more when more than 4 cores will be mainstream. like 8 cores or above.

i think crysis 2 will require to have a C2D CPU as the min at best and recommend a quad core of any type.

EDIT: i also got a ATI 5850.

I don't think Crysis 2 will require a Quad-Core, in fact I think they said the system requirements are supposed to be lower than the original Crysis.

However, I would guess a Quad-Core would be required for max settings.

I agree, people drastically over-estimate what it really takes to run Crysis. Yes, on Max settings it was a real beast on systems, but with lower settings, the game was quite playable on low end rigs.

I played through and beat it on a work PC, which was a Pentium D 805@3.0GHz, 1GB of RAM, and an x800XL. I had to play it on the lowest settings at 1024x768, but it was playable.

and i think you will agree it looked very good even with lower settings

Yeah, it looks rather nice for the settings, one of the better looking games that I played on that rig.

crysis was very easy to run at low res on low settings. its only once you tried to pass medium and 1280x1024 that teh requirements skyrocketed.

I tried running it on dual 7900GS's(mobile mind you) with a 2.4GHz cpu and frame rates were absolute puttering. Every resolution I tried was horrible.

poor coding was what it came down to ;) though my 2x4850X2 and 1090T seemed ok playing it at 1080P

They do... When that game came out I played it through medium settings on a 2600XT with a Pentium D @ 3.4ghz with 2gb of ram @ 1280x1024.

Require a quad core, probably not... Rec, probably, but I think at your clock you will be more than sufficient, heavy graphics card and 4gb of ram you should be solid. even if you want to crank it most likely.

I also just played Crysis Warhead on an i3 @ 4.4ghz with a GTX465 and 4gb of ram under Win7 x64 yesterday pretty well enthusiast all @ 1280x1024 with 8xq.

The reccomended specs for Metro 2033 have the Core i7 listed :ohwell:

requirements really are getting stupid these days

It's stupid to list P4 and 128MB VRAM as minimum spec on modern games, yes it will run, but at 640x480 and everything low or off and I wouldn't say many people with that spec would run VGA, I had P4 with 128MB onboard and was using 1280x1024. So it's not really realistic to say it will run on X and Y, but not on a resolution people commonly use at the time the game is released.

Graphics and physics are getting better though so it's logical that the recommended requirements increase. Also it runs fine without one so it's not a major deal.

You can run Crysis on suprisingly low end hardware actually. :)

Since Crysis 2 is being released on consoles the bar should be set fairly low for PC hardware requirements.

are you high guys !?!?!?! like every other console port it only needs 3 cores

Console ports don't need 3 cores.

need wasnt the right word....but you get my point right !?!
