Windows 11 General Discussion

well i been meaning to do linux mint soon anyway, so now that soon will be tonight

i reinstalled gpu driver and it all works fine again. just super annoying. i blame M$ more than AMD though honestly.
Yeah it does this with WU. I dunno why it does it so much with AMD drivers.

You can disable it using group policies if you're interested on that.

so windows 11 may update today... i just rebooted, updated normally through windows update... it removed my amd graphics drivers. i am typing this with no graphics driver installed... what in the flying fuck.

I HATE MODERNITY!!!
The only sane way of using W10 / W11 is to disable all "Microsoft Recommended (tm)" auto-driver installs and manually install everything:-

1. Open Group Policy (Win + R -> gpedit.msc). Then in Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Windows Update -> Do not include drivers with Windows Updates (change it to Enabled).

2. Start a command line elevated as Admin and enter the following line:-
Code:
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX\Settings" /v "ExcludeWUDriversInQualityUpdate" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f

I do exactly that, I usually search for updates a week after they were released, install them if there weren't huge issues..
I don't let my system install drivers by itself.

I do the same, but personally I use a different bypass then the one just posted to bypass the driver updates.

I do manually install everything, and I have ShutUpTen enabled to turn that off already. This was the May Cumalative update that everyone gets, it wasn't then pushing a driver install in, it was a regular windows update that broke my AMD drivers. the AMD logo never loaded after installing it, I had to reinstall, all is fine now, though so no big deal

Did I make you angry?
No, absolutely you didn't! I was angry about changes to the firewall in Windows 11. I also use the Winaero Tweaker block rules for telemetry. Windows just makes me mad sometimes. For sure!

Changed the emoticon though, to prevent misunderstanding. Hope that's OK.

I'm not laughing AT you, just laughing because this is easily avoidable.

Oh, gotcha!

Some of us don't do twitter. What does it say?

For Windows Insiders

Does anyone have this on the current update?

PIN, i think he didn't set a PIN and Windows asks hime his PIN.

No... Just before the update the image was nicely blurry then I would enter my pin (yes I have a PIN) but the whole window like overly is ignoring to me

Apologies if this is old news but its a game changer for me.

I use 7 taskbar tweaker to customise my taskbar, and came across this on the website for it, talking about something called Explorer Patcher.

A low quality video I found. I believe quick launch still wont be there as I read that code was gutted, but pinning on the win10 style start menu as a replacement I could live with.

Will play around with it in a VM.

Interesting. I like Windows 11 because it's NOT like Windows 10. But that's just me.

I've talked about that product a bit on here before. I find it and Start11 both good tools to have around.

I'm on DualBoot, anyway i don't think i will use it, except if i learn it' outperforms TEN in some few of my games, but how would i know ?

A new standard: Control all RGB lighting from Windows 11

New features to keep your users engaged

Lighted accessories have been on the rise and can add energy and emotion to your PC experience. Today, many of these accessories rely on third-party apps and integrations that are highly fragmented. With Dynamic Lighting, Windows users will be able to effortlessly set up and customize their devices with RGB lights directly from Windows Settings. It has never been easier to help all your RGB accessories seamlessly work together for Windows apps. This month, we are making the Dynamic Lighting preview available to Windows Insiders so that developers and hardware partners alike can experiment with new integrations for RGB accessories and components.

Windows 11 has never given me any major issue.

That between 3 major hardware changes and 4 GPU changes...
