I'm really interested in trying this, I'll have to make another OS partition so I can. I just can't give up Vista x64 SP2 for the pure fact all my games work great with it, online and offline, and my older PB games also work, which I doubt is changed in RC1 since it's not MS's problem to deal with...but maybe we'll luck out and Evenbalance will be in a good mood and be willing to do something right lol!

Downloading x64 anyways...I still have my Vista x64 OS partition backup on my spare 6400aaks, I might just use that one as my 7 install. :D

Been running RC1 for 3 1/2 days now and kinda like it. Although I want a perm. OS and I only have a truely perm key for Vista HomePrem so back to Vista for now. Cya Win7 when you come out. (Microsoft, PLEASE offer a step up program for those who decided to take the Vista plunge. $74.99 for the upgrade from Vista Home Premium to Win7 Home Premium or w/e the SKU match it is. Just a suggestion. :toast: )

people with vista ultimate get a free upgrade. I'm unsure on this, but i THINK retail owners of home premium get an upgrade too.

I don't think everyone will get the free upgrades. This thread from Tomshardware..

Vista to Windows 7 Upgrade plan

Shows that only machines with Vista that were bought from Jan of 09 get it. I hope thats not true since i would like a free version of Windows 7 64! :D

"It’s certain, however, the the software upgrade process will not allow an in-place upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit."

Umm... since 32 bit and 64 bit keys are compatible in vista, thats a bit weird?

MICROSOFT RECOMMENDS YOU DO A CLEAN INSTALL THO, if you are worried about losing your data and all if you only have one partition, after doing a clean install go into the C drive and you will see a folder named Windows.old go into that folder and navigate to the users folder go into your profile folder and you will find all your stuff such as pics, downloads etc. just copy them over to the new set of folders and you can then delete the windows.old folder
