WinME and mspaint

As some people may already know, early versions of windows included mspaint, but with only support for bitmap files (aka .bmp)

Here I am at work, making a little ad for the main page of the website that I manage (for now ¬_¬ ) and I need to open a jpg image, so I can make the ad a little more relevant to our cause.

Now, working on an old laptop, happening to heat up alot :roll:

, while only really being able to run winME, I am stuck to having to open the file in a preview, print screen and paste in mspaint. Now, I can do this, but I'd rather not have to.

Does anyone know of the update for mspaint, and happen to have a link? Or would I have to go and find the update package for winME on the Microsoft website which includes this update?

Also note, this laptop also has a low resolution lcd screen. (Is that right... meh)

WinME. It's all this laptop could manage. No WinXP for this one. ¬_¬

I'll get myself my own laptop, one better than this. But in the meantime, this is all work could supply me to use...

if it can handle winme, it will work w/ xp. ive used xp n a system with a 300 pentium 2, 128mb pc66, and 512kb video!!

Srsly? 98SE is an up on ME :confused:

Well, anyway, upgrading is NOT an option here... (Like heck I'm going through all the set up process. I know we got a copy of XP we could install, but lets just leave XP for another necessary situation)

(Just checked with CPU-z, it's an Intel Celeron processor, core speed at about 697.5mhz. (96mhz bus speed) and I know it has 128mb ram, but it's only showing 120mb, so 8 meg must be shared with/dedicated to video...) so yeah, I reckon it could handle XP, but with our desktop at home, with 800MHz processor, and 128mb ram, I dont be thinking I want XP on this, that thing runs like a car with wooden square wheels :shadedshu)

So, I just wanna patch mspaint. That's all I wanna do with this machine.

No, needed msc42u.dll, and now I got the error:
MFC Runtime Module
This application or dll cannot be loaded on Windows 95 or on Windows 3.1. It takes advantage of Unicode features only available on Windows NT.

and then when I close that I get:
Error Starting Program
The MFC42U.DLL file cannot start. Check the file to determine the problem.

Nope, it's not working. :banghead:

Unfortunately, I refuse to modify the entire OS on this laptop, only due to the fact that it's not mine.

Thanks, but I'd rather try some freeware than shareware.

I've used alot of shareware, and I get rather irritated when they don't wanna work for me, or do what I want.

VMware looks like it's a whole windows maintenance service/fully licensed shareware/etc. as well as a whole sorta head stuck truck, so, I think I'll go with Gimp, since that works.
