geeks we may be, but who do the ppl that use computer daily for facebook etc turn to when it all goes rong? :toast:

when i was 12 i had a AMD 4000+ socket 939 with 1 gig ram and a 6800ultra ...ahh memories lol!

Damn... I feel old. Pentium 100Mhz (90Mhz BUS!!!!) with 16MB EDO Ram and a 4MB1!!111! Diamond Stealth. I tried to play Turok the dinosaur hunter on it. :D

Back in the days when they called CDROMS "Multimedia Drives"

The oldest thing I remember was a 200mhz processor  But the one I used most when I was a kid was one with a 800mhz processor... but I was super young so mhz was what mattered the most LOL

all my comp parts were hand-me-downs back then..i still have that computer too!

specs of it are this:

Q6600 @ stock speeds (gonna oc to 3ghz+ when i get a better cooler)
XFX 680i SLI LT motherboard
2gb OCZ 800mhz ram
2x 9600GT in SLI
500w jeantech PSU
19" moniter.
winXP as my gfs lil bro dont care about DX10/11 etc and i find XP to be a solid OS still

how would this compare to the latest (fps) games? its a budget gamer..

yes it can and will do fine for most games . but I do not think new games that are made for win7 or really new games made with DX11 will perform as well they may run fine and all but may not give you the eye candy and performance you should get. the only thing I see that is or may hold you back is the OS .

DUUUUDEE... you should mod it and put new stuff in it :D I wish I still had my old AST case. It would be the UBER DEMON AST rig right now. :D With red cathodes and all.

He's 12, and wants to play FPS games......... The OS won't be much of a limitation

he wants it for mw2 and other COD games

i do quite like XP, it loads up in 15 seconds ffs lol

yeah but you have a very decent dx10 rig goin by all standards, the thing will last, and more and more DX10/DX11 games are gonna come out....

kid is gonna keep this thing for a while... not like us who change hardware like our socks.

maybe..i have a USB ethernet thing..maybe that will work

dude im running 1920X1080 maxed out in all my games, you might want to purchase 4gb of RAM instead of 2GB, and for 19inch screen you will be blazing :toast: happy gaming :pimp:

I heard dx 10 can be used in windows xp

if i keep the comp ill prolly trade out the 9600's with 2 9800GT's..i still have the 2 8600 that were in the comp before..cant sell em, no1 wants em lol

nope... they tried but it failed miserably.

8600's would make good physX cards... Fleabay them they'll go for at least $55

When I was 12 I had a 286 with like 2MB of RAM and a 40MB Hard Drive!

But seriously that rig kicks butt. The 9600GT was like NVidia accidentally made it too powerful IMHO. I mean it was pretty close in performance to the 8800GT/9800GT's and like %100 more powerful than the 8600GTS!

It's like if you went from a 4670 to a 5670 and it was %100 more powerful! History tells us it should only be like ~%15-25 faster. You know what I mean? Like it was too good for the name!

I had a 9600GT and it ran Far Cry 2 on Extra High at 720p and Crysis on High at 720p no AA just fine.

Two of them in SLi should be fine for any DX9 game on high.

Solid rig. Should run everything quite well. If I was you, I would grab yourself dual 9800s, and destroy everything./
