First and formost i need to know... is a registry cleaner useful and nessessary?

I am guessing you can build up some registry errors pretty quickly after a fresh install considering all the work you are doing updating, installing, moving files, etc. but that many is insane.

currently still running at over 13k detected??

all of them seem to be file path references.... not good if it's true but i think it's looking for all the 64 bit reg entries to refer to their 32bit locations??

o ya dude a fresh install of XP will get me 1600-2000 easy ill take a screen shot for you guys sometime...i actually did an overhaul of a clients Pc kill viruses system tweaks etc...i cleaned the system than installed SP3 (XP x32) 600 reg errors...after i had already cleaned the system i was just touching up...installed SP3 after a reboot than i rebooted again and ran a registry clean and 600 new probs were their its rediculous...

yeah but i'm at 22k right now and it's not stoppin
that's 30 minutes of registry cleaning?? on vista 32 it gave me like 150 or so

Its because most of those keys are leading to temporary files :) It actualy hurts performance to delete em, cause the system has to recreate the registry file.

I would be careful with all registry cleaners, especially when working with Vista and when a registry cleaner application comes from one of these small developers with only a shady email address as a form of contact.

Las time I used a reg cleaner was like 5 yrs ago, and never used one since, it completely fubared my install.

Have no need for them, mind you I do format my PC every couple of months. :p

Try using ccleaner, it works for x64 machines. I'm pretty sure normal ones will just delete you whole registry. When I 1st installed Vista 64 I ran a registry scan with abexo free reg cleaner (which is what I used for 32bit) and it took about 45 minutes to complete and found several gigabytes of stuff to delete, however I didn't click clean just incase it deleted my fresh install. try ccleaner and I bet you'll get only a few entries and it'll take 45 seconds to complete scan.

Even cCleaner finds stuff that dosent need to get cleaned up in the reg. I would say use a reg cleaner once a year, if you install and uninstall alot of stuff. And just use one you like - They are all the same.

I use regsupreme pro...never had an issue.

Im guessing you haven't bought teh software and thats a mechanism to make you buy the full version?

I've never used a registry cleaner.

yeah looks like a lot of false positives, usually designed to get you to buy the full software eg.

"Wonderous Amazing Best Ever Reg Cleaner found 13 million errors, unfortunately the free version you are using can only fix 2 of them. Would you like to upgrade?"

Tye

im been using ccleaner for ages now never any probs.

I got the exact same error with vista 64-bit install. And when the registry cleaner finished that humungous scan , it only actually deleted about 50 !!

Found this on teh interweb.
Open regedit :
Navigate to hklm=>software=>wow64/32node=>wow64/32node ,
and delete last entry.
Abracadabra !

im use this program before , every time i run it it is give me errors , so in forget it , ther is also something call wise registry cleaner , try it i think it is free

CCleaner seems to keep my boot times down.
