I wonder if any one else running a X99 system can relate to this issue or is it one of my components? when my systems under heavy load or even when its loading after a reboot, it will lag spike were it will lock the desktop so no mouse movement and rain meter stalls, after a second it will resume like normal? any one have any idea what this could be is it normal or is it related to something else.

Nope I cant recongnize that, my X99 system just runs.

Have tried to disable HPET?

I never got it on my old R5E ether from memory but i can't tell if its the CPU,Board or Memory as all of them have been changed out lol, I'm pretty sure its not the memory but can't rule it out.

Have tried to disable HPET?

No i haven't but it wasn't a issue before.

Guess i need to find what creates the issue so i can problem fix it.

Now you mentioned this. Before my last X99 board went belly up it was showing signs of lagging from time to time in not so heavy system loads.

Can you elaborate on your system spec, as well as your overclocking? Specifically have you been overclocking your cache/ring?

I haven't seen those issues on any of my half dozen or so X99 boxes. Those are anything from a 5820k to a 2683V4.

I didn't had that. My motherboard didn't listen me first 2-3 days, OC Issue with BSOD after any change in BIOS connected with CPU Clock or voltage, even downclock recognized in few situations in early days of X99 on different motherboards.
But I was patient and after that she become one of best mobo I ever had.
Probably bug with BIOS Chip fixed after ASUS BIOS Flashback.
10 EZ Update didn't change nothing except BIOS Number and model.
One Flashback with powered off fix everything.
Users who constantly push edges can't expect from any hardware to behave normal and do everything you set.
X99 is pretty nice platform for longer usage, despite to early DDR4 kits and optimization. I missed first bugs because I bought 5-6 months after launch.
Only reviews decide to spare enthusiasts from comparison between i7-6900K 4.3GHz vs i7-7820X 4.3GHz and i7-6950X 4.3GHz vs i9-7900X 4.3GHz...
That would be nice review for gaming and multi threaded applications and only valid comparison for user of X99.
When computer behave weird I used to first check motherboard, special if completely different weird problems happen one by one.

If you don't know what is problem you need to remove everything out and start with CPU, mobo, simple GPU and memory on default value.
First install system and check if everything is OK. Than you change one by one thing every 3-4 days. In mean time you use computer as normal, play games, look movies, etc...
OC first CPU, than memory manual, than timmings, between every change 3-4 days. If everything work than you can try XMP. Maybe something do that on different way, but I have time, I'm not impatient to system need to be pushed to the edges instantly.
I don't like to push system to the edges because for something like that I always need to have money to replace everything.
I like more to used space Intel or NVIDIA or AMD left to people OC. Every hardware is launched with some space... i7-5960X have
1000MHz free to be overclocked, Intel give you Turbo and you have few hundreds MHz over that, they planned that. But not 1500MHz even if good part of them could work like that.
Now with new generations OC is much lower because AMD surpised them and they didn't had other options than to push clock 500MHz more.
For Z chipset is not problem, for X chipset motherboards need new VRM. To be be honest and after Ivy Bridge they didn't left nothing special for Z chipset over Turbo. 300-400MHz maybe.

My specs are off to the side, and seems to do this when its even on stock settings, its the same type of lag you get when testing your memory speeds in AIDA64, but i get this issue loading some programs.

I'm thinking if your O/C ing that may be the problem. My Asus sabortooth X99 and i7 5930K @ 4.4 Ghz runs fine.

Like i said i get the issue on stock speeds, my CPU can do 4.6 on 2.27v.

Perhaps try running in safe mode and see if you get the same lags. Could at least help determine if it is a hardware or software issue.

Try running your RAM at the default JEDEC speeds and see if it improves at all.

System is already running at stock speed, just updated windows so will see how that goes.

Yes, Windows update has done terrible things to me and my rigs in the past. Last creative update took my Asus sound card away. Had to load in another PCIe slot and also messed with my O/C.

@OP
You have had this system for a while? If so did it ever not lag, try another set of memory?
Can you borrow some off a friend? Also power off and unplug your system them reseat each stick.
I cant see your specs but are you using a HDD or SSD?
While powered off reseat all molex plugs. Try a full CMOS reset, then set default.

Was this happened continuously?

My pc (Z77) having this continuous lag spike in last few days. System not responding/locked for every +- 5 seconds. Reboot will fix it only to happen again when there is heavy load.
Sometimes the whole system just freeze nothing i could do except unplug the power :(

Tried to scan OS, disk, memory, hardware inspection. It's all okay.
I said screw this and load my last month system image.
Now it's all running smooth again :rockout:

Still don't know whats wrong though :D

I bet your using a beta of rainmeter. I'm guessing that its the issue. Have you tested not using it for a bit ?

I do run rainmeter but its not the beta version its 4.0, i have another RVE10 i just got back from RMA should i swap the boards out, i can't remember the lag on my old RVE but it could of been there who knows.

Should running these AIDA64 benchmarks lag your system or not?

Swap them and see how system acts.
Aida64 benches will lag system for a few seconds it even tells you not to move the mouse.

Its a few hour job to swap boards, i don't really want to do it then find out it wasn't the board lol.

I just thought maybe your Samsung 950 Pro NVME is overheating under stress and causing this.

aim a spare fan at it perhaps

Did you try toss out the Xonar?

I've had the 950 since it come out and its always been behind a fan.

Yeah i took that out some time ago man.

Any other thing that comes to my mind would be SATA related. Tried only with NVME drive, disabling RAID and WD disk? Next issues come with USB3. And yes it has Asmedia, on my previous board putting Asmedia lastest ar*e driver put system to stall. It happens on Asus boards only btw. Try cutting them off.
