Your favorite case fan?

I tend to agree with that, but try telling the local stores here that... everything they stock is cheap junk that glows like a friggin' beacon.

The local shops may have soured me, but I can't think of a good fan I've seen with LEDs, tbh...

Considering how small our country market is, I'm surprised by the amount of high quality fans I can buy locally. You can find crappy blingy fans as well, but they are surprisingly rare really.

For the rest, Amazon/eBay/ComputerUniverse...

Aye, if it weren't for the internet I'd go insane... I can't even source anti static bags in this town (as a recent buyer learned the hard way, don't worry, I take care of my customers, but no more zip locks that's for damn sure...)

Tt Riing Fans!

i like any silent fans, but as long as spinning right its ok for me too

Ok, this will be the first time I'll be using something other than Noiseblocker. I've ordered Corsair Carbide 330R case and decided to replace single stock front fan with dual Corsair AF140 Quiet fans. They have rubberized frame and FDB bearing, I hope they'll be as good as they sound on paper.
Corsair certainly has some quite high quality products lately and I think these might actually be very good. I'll use existing Noiseblocker Multi-frames for rear exhaust and top.

I'll certainly drop a word here once I test them...

Update to my original post:

They ended up parting out the box o' Sunons and terminating my bid. Aparently the state can do this... lol.

Anyhow, they were selling them for 5 bucks each. I bought 3, just for the curiousity of seeing how they perform.

I got them home and they though noisy, move a ton of air relative to the noise level. I tuned them to run at ~7V on my mobo and they are now barely audible and still move a good amount of air. They aren't the best fans ever compared to a FDB probably but they were cheap and seem decent.

Now we see if the magical "MagLev" bearings Sunon patented last as long as they say they do (should be 10+ years according to documentation). That'd be pretty nice for 5 bucks a fan.

Got a dozen of these Sunon fans, all pulled from (as bonehead123 stated) Dells, HP`s etc.

I`ve put one in a `play rig` last week as an exhaust fan, its very quiet, still works well for a 8-10 year old fan.

Some other brand names from same era OEM machines are, Magic, Delta, Martech, ARX.

My favorite case fan is not made anymore. It's a Scythe Slipstream Kaze 120mm that spins at 1,900RPM, and moves 110.31 cfm of air. Yes you can hear it, but it's not too obnoxious, running 37 dBA of noise. Luckily I have 5 spares! :)

I remember them being quite expensive too.

These, and the Silverstone FM121's. ;)

It's a ~15dB fan with 1,6mm/H2O air pressure. That's quite significant for the given dimensions and noise level.

My favorite case fan has to be the F12. I dunno what it is about it that makes me tick, since it's not the most powerful/silent/versatile 120mm, but I love it and that's why I have 3 in my mATX rig. 140mm and better version of F12 would be the A14, of which I also have one handling the other computer; it's lovely as well.

I also have a box of 4 Cougar Turbines that are awesome. They're quiet, move quite a bit of air and were just $19 for all 4.

I'd love to get my hands on one of EK's Vardars though. I'm a sucker for the Gentle Typhoon look.

They would be excellent as silent case fans, but for a radiator set up you want more static pressure, around 3.0mm/h2o
I have seen sets that run around 25dB at that pressure

really like fractual design fans, they are completely slient at full speed

Well, this thread is about case fans isn't it? These are case fans, for static pressure you need fewer fan blades that are ewider and at slightly lower angle to create the higher static pressure.

For case fans I like Fractal. For static pressure I like Corsair.

Heh, someone read the thread title. ;)

Yeah, trying to keep blowers out of this (despite my Sunons) and focus more on good noise/CFM/cost ratio. Think of that as our "holy trinity." Yours qualify for that fine.

And someone wants to be pedantic and argumentative and exclude a certain type of fan from the "case fan" category.

Case fans are airflow focused, not pressure... Unless you have dust filter and radiator mounted on the case intake...

Eh really, I'm not trying to be argumentative. Was just my vision for the thread... I started out with a hardcore blower fan for reference. By all means post anything you want. :)
