ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 Mini is the World's Smallest GTX 1080

With a TDP of 180W, it was only a matter of time before we started to see ever more compact GeForce GTX 1080 graphics cards, since it is after all based on the third largest implementation of the "Pascal" architecture (after GP100 and GP102). The ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 Mini is the smallest GTX 1080 implementation to date, with its length of 8.3" inches (just about 21cm), and its PCB even shorter than that. ZOTAC used the difference in lengths of the cooler and PCB to cram in the longer and wider portions of the aluminium fin-stacks.

The cooler of the ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 Mini features five 6 mm-thick copper heat pipes, which pass through a dense aluminium fin-stack, which is then ventilated by 90 mm (left) and 100 mm (right) fans. The fan in the front appears to be of a quieter, low-RPM type, while the one on the rear end is a high air-flow fan. A neat back-plate covers up the reverse side of the PCB. An LED-lit ZOTAC logo is located on the top. The card ships with factory-overclocked speeds of 1620 MHz core, 1753 MHz GPU Boost, and an untouched 10 GHz (GDDR5X-effective) memory, compared to reference speeds of 1607/1733 MHz. The card draws power from a single 8-pin PCIe power connector. Display outputs include three DisplayPorts and one each of HDMI and DVI. This design should allow ZOTAC to achieve two market positions - charge a premium for the compact size; or sell at a lower price than reference, if the competition heats up.

Razer Announces Project Valerie: The World's First Triple Display Laptop

In the "Are we crazy enough to do this" pages of CES 2017 (company's words, not mine), Razer announced what they call "the world's first triple display laptop". Project Valerie remains a prototype as of this time, but it certainly is an interesting one, particularly for professionals who are frequently on the move and require a humongous amount of screen real-estate.

EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 FTW2, and SC2 Graphics Cards Pictured

EVGA is refreshing the top-end of its air-cooled GeForce GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 lineup with its new iCX cooling solution. Apparently, the company has redesigned the PCBs of its top-tier GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 cards from the ground up, in response to the recent VRM overheating issues. It also deployed a powerful new cooling solution just to be sure (and possibly to differentiate them from the older cards cooled by the ACX coolers).

EVGA showed us three cards in its 2017 CES booth, the GeForce GTX 1070 SC2 (model: 08G-P4-6573-KR), the GeForce GTX 1070 FTW2 (08G-P4-6676KR), and the GeForce GTX 1080 FTW2 (08G-P4-6686-KR). The cards appear taller than their predecessors, and draw power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors. The company didn't detail the iCX cooling solution. It plans to replace the current SC, FTW, and possibly Classified series graphics cards from its product stack, with these new cards.

Intel Core i7-7700K Cracks 7 GHz Bench-Stable Overclock

It may have practically no IPC gains over its predecessor, but Intel's 7th generation Core "Kaby Lake" unlocked processors are shaping up to be an overclocker's delight. A Core i7-7700K sample tested by professional overclocker Allen "Splave" Golibersuch was able to breach the 7 GHz barrier. To achieve this feat however, HyperThreading was disabled, and two of the four CPU cores were also disabled.

Paired with an ASRock Z170 OC Formula motherboard, the i7-7700K was bench-stable at 7022.96 MHz, at the chip's maximum base clock multiplier of 69x, and a base-clock of 101.78 MHz. The Vcore voltage was set at a scorching 2.00V. The chip crunched PiFast in 9.02 seconds, SuperPi 32M in 4 minutes 20.25 seconds, wPrime 32M in 2.953 seconds, and wPrime 1024M in 1 minute 33.171 seconds. Paired with an ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX OC graphics card, it scored 643,316 points in Aquamark, and 86,798 points in 3DMark 05.

GIGABYTE Intros GeForce GTX 1080 Rock Edition Graphics Card

GIGABYTE today introduced the GeForce GTX 1080 Rock Edition G1.Gaming graphics card (model: GV-N1080G1 ROCK-8GD). Put simply, this is a GTX 1080 WindForce OC (GV-N1080WF3OC-8GD) graphics card with an older generation WindForce 3X cooling solution, which the company deployed on some of its GeForce GTX 900 series products, such as the GTX 980 Ti G1.Gaming.

The underlying PCB is identical to that of the WindForce OC, and it also features an identical factory OC of 1632 MHz core, 1771 MHz GPU Boost, and 10 GHz (GDDR5X-effective) memory, out of the box. The card draws power from a single 8-pin PCIe power connector. Display outputs include three DisplayPort 1.4, and one each of HDMI 2.0b and dual-link DVI. The company didn't reveal pricing.

NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti Confirmed; 980 Ti Owners to Enjoy "Step-up" Program

In a lInkedIn job post for Senior Marketing Manager, NVIDIA has seemingly confirmed the launch of a Ti version of their GTX 1080 graphics card. The relevant line is a simple one: "980 Ti users get first spot in line for 1080 Ti pre-orders, or Step Up offer".

If true, this is an interesting way for NVIDIA to go on about with their newest generation graphics card releases, and would be a good way to essentially "corner" their current user base into future hardware upgrade paths by increasing the value of staying within the GeForce family. Considering NVIDIA's current product stack, we wouldn't be surprised to see GTX 1080 Ti retail at about $999, so a value of $200 for your used 980 Ti seems reasonable in such a trade-in program (from a purely corporate perspective, naturally).

ASUS Intros a No-frills NVIDIA SLI HB Bridge

Want SLI to work right on your GeForce GTX 1080, GTX 1070, or TITAN X Pascal without having to spend $50 on a fancy SLI bridge with an LED light-show you don't need? Look no further than the "no-frills" NVIDIA SLI HB bridge by ASUS. The bridge is just a fiberglass PCB with SLI slots where you'd want them, and simple ASUS ROG branding printed on the PCB, nothing too fancy. The bridge comes with 60 mm or 2-slot spacing (1 slot between two dual-slot thick graphics cards). The bridge will be sold separately for a fraction of the price of the company's LED-lit bridges; as well as being part of some of the company's upcoming motherboards' accessory packages.

Calyos Unveils NSG Passive Cooling Kit for Thermaltake Core P3

Heatpipe cooling expert Calyos unveiled a passive-cooling kit for the Thermaltake Core P3 chassis.
