No GTA 6 for PC Gamers at Launch, Rockstar Confirms

Rockstar Games has officially released a Grand Theft Auto 6 (or VI) trailer that brings together millions of GTA series fans. However, the game will remain exclusive for gaming consoles at launch. On the landing page for GTA 6, there is a note that says, "Grand Theft Auto VI heads to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond in the biggest, most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet. Coming 2025 to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S." While the first trailer showed this, we now have written confirmation that GTA 6 is a console exclusive at launch, whenever it happens in 2025.

If long-time GTA gamers remember, the situation was very much the same with the launch of the fifth installment in the GTA series, GTA V, which got a PC port almost two years after the initial release. The GTA V was released in September 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles and got an upgrade to a new console cycle in November 2014 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Only in April 2015 was the game released for Windows-based PCs, as Rockstar took its time to polish the port and make it work with PC gamers' various hardware choices. While we hope to avoid seeing such a big cadence from console to PC port, it will surely take Rockstar some extra time to make a PC version run smoothly.

Rockstar Games to Drop Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer in December

As the end of the year is getting closer, Rockstar Games has taken to social media to express heartfelt gratitude to its global community of players. The legendary game developer and publisher is poised to celebrate a quarter-century of industry-defining work since its inception in 1998. In a move that has electrified the gaming community, Rockstar Games has announced plans to unveil the first trailer for the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise in early December, on the company's 25th anniversary. The next-generation title is rumored to be called Grand Theft Auto VI (6), following the release of GTA V. In early December, we should see the first official trailer for GTA VI, which doesn't mean that the game is coming anytime soon.

On the contrary, the trailer could serve just to start the hype cycle. Sam Houser, the co-founder and president of Rockstar Games, has posted: "We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you." Therefore, an official launch date has yet to be set, so the community of GTA players around the globe needs to hold their patience a bit longer.

Leaked Benchmark Shows Intel Core i5-10400 Matching i7-9700F in Gaming Performance

Benchmarks for one of the recently announced 10th generation Intel Core chips have been leaked early by Chinese review channel Bilibili as reported by @Momomo_US. The mid-range Intel Core i5-10400 is a new 6 core/12 thread CPU with a base clock of 2.9 GHz and a max all core boost of 4.0 GHz with a recommended customer price of $182. The Core i5-10400 was put up against the current-gen Core i5-9400F and Core i7-9700F in a variety of games by Bilibili with the i5-10400 matching or beating the i7-9700F in most tests.

The Intel Core i7-9700F is an 8 core/8 thread CPU that was released in 2019 with a recommended customer price of $310 which it still retails for today. To see the i5-10400 match the i7-9700F is significant news for gamers as Intel is forced to lower prices and increase performance as the threat of Ryzen 3000 looms. The CPU was tested in Grand Theft Auto V and Assassins Creed Odyssey at 1080p where the i5-10400 came ahead in Assassins Creed Odyssey and just behind the i7-9700F in Grand Theft Auto V. The full results can be viewed below.

NVIDIA Releases GeForce 431.36 WHQL Drivers

NVIDIA today released GeForce 431.36 WHQL software, which adds support for the new GeForce RTX 2060 Super and RTX 2070 Super graphics cards that went on sale from 9th July. The drivers also improve optimization for "Tom Clancy's The Division 2," "Strange Brigade," and "Metro Exodus." The drivers add SLI support for "F1 2019." The drivers address the issue of performance counts appearing over the Windows 10 1903 Start menu (since the Start menu is now its own 3D-accelerated process). A "Code 43" error that appears on Windows 1903 machines with Intel "Sandy Bridge" processors has also been fixed. Another critical bug where Windows 1903 doesn't write a crash-dump on BSOD has been fixed.

Among the game-specific fixes are screen flickering noticed in "Grand Theft Auto V" with MSAA enabled; a game-crash experienced in "Forza 4" when driving through tunnels; "Shadow of the Tomb Raider" may experience a TDR crash on GeForce "Pascal" GPU; and staying with this title, its internal benchmark may quit when ray-tracing is enabled. Grab the driver from the link below.

NVIDIA Releases GeForce Hotfix Driver Version 431.18

NVIDIA released their latest driver package version, updating the software number up to 431.18. The new hotfix driver builds upon the previous 430.86 release, already fixed upon by another, previous hotfix driver 430.97.

This new release fixes BSODs on hibernation wake-up for ASUS' ASUS GL703GS/Asus GL502VML notebooks; game crashes or TDR on Shadow of the Tomb Raider when launching the game on Pascal GPUs; Shadow of the Tomb Raider's benchmark exiting abruptly should ray tracing be enabled; and flickering issues on Grand Theft Auto V when MSAA is enabled. Look below for the updated driver.

GTA V Thrives Five Years and 100 Million Copies Later

It's official: Take-Two Interactive recently revealed that Grand Theft Auto V has now sold over 100 million units since it was launched in 2013. That's an impressive feat not only for that cold number, but also for being able to sell copies with a game that is five years old. On May Take-Two announced that the game had hit 95 million copies sold, for example, so sales rate are really good after all this time. the original game has evolved and grown with continuous updates that have allowed players to enjoy new content on a regular basis. These sales have also been helped by key factors such as the progressive reduction of its price, of course.

The announcement was part of the financial results in Q2 for Take-Two Interactive. The company has seen net revenue growing 11% to $492.7 million compared to the same period of last year. It's interesting to see how digital-delivered net revenue grew 18% to $358.4 million. This represents 73% of total revenue currently, something reasonable if we consider the success of Grand Theft Auto V, Grand Theft Auto Online, NBA 2K18 and NBA 2K19. But again, selling over 100 million units is something that only some very special games can do: only Tetris and Minecraft have done that previously.

New Performance Benchmarks of AMD's Vega Frontier Edition Surface

You probably took a long, hard read at our article covering a single-minded user's experience of his new Vega Frontier Edition. Now, courtesy of PCPer, and charitable soul Ekin at Linus Tech Tips, we have some more performance benchmarks of AMD's latest (non gaming specific) graphics card.

Starting with 2560x1440, let's begin with the good news: in what seems to be the best performance scenario we've seen until now, the Vega Frontier Edition stands extremely close to NVIDIA's GTX 1080 Ti video card in Fallout 4. It trails it for about 10 FPS most of the test, and even surpasses it at some points. These numbers should be taken with a grain of salt regarding the RX Vega consumer cards: performance on those models will probably be higher than the Frontier Edition's results. And for the sake of AMD, they better be, because in all other tests, the Frontier Edition somewhat disappoints. It's beaten by NVIDIA's GTX 1070 in Grand Theft Auto V, mirrors its performance in The Witcher 3, and delivers slightly higher performance than the GTX 1070 on Hitman and Dirt Rally (albeit lower than the GTX 1080.)
