NVIDIA rolled out its latest GeForce "Game Ready" driver, version 347.52 WHQL. The driver comes with optimizations and SLI profiles for "Evolve." It also gives you GPU- and game-specific performance improvements for the GTX 980, GTX 970, and GTX 960, across 1080p, 1440p, and 4K resolutions. These performance improvements are for 347.52 WHQL, compared to its immediate predecessor, the 347.25 WHQL, and isn't general to the R347 drivers. In addition, SLI profiles are added or updated for "Dying Light," "Saint's Row: Gat Out of Hell," "Total War: Attila," "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn," etc. The PhysX system software is updated to version 9.14.0702. Gigabyte announced the GeForce GTX 980 WaterForce Tri-SLI (model: GV-N980X3WA-4GD), arguably the highest pixel-crunching power that ever came out of a single box. This contraption is a trio of GeForce GTX 980 graphics cards, with a factory-fitted liquid cooling loop, which sits outside your case. Each of the three cards features a factory-overclocked GTX 980 chip featuring 1228 MHz core, 1329 MHz GPU Boost, and 7.00 GHz memory; with a liquid-cooling pump-block over the GPU, and a base-plate that conveys heat from the memory and VRM to that block, using heat-pipes.

Coolant tubes from the three cards meet at the external unit, that has an independent 120 x 120 mm radiator for each of the three cards. Fan-speeds and coolant pressure of each of the three loops can be controlled at the unit's front-panel, which features an LCD display with coolant temperature and fan-speed readouts. Also part of the kit, are a custom 3-way SLI bridge, a reinforcement beam that counteracts PCB bending, a 5.25-inch front-panel bezel, from which the coolant tubes make their way out of the case, and to the external unit, and some tubing managment grommets. Gigabyte didn't announce pricing or availability.

Under pressure from its own recently launched GeForce GTX 980 cannibalizing its $3,000 flagship GeForce GTX TITAN-Z (you can buy GTX 980 Quad-SLI at $2,200), NVIDIA could finally review its pricing, in the retail channel. The company recently reduced its price for the OEM channel, letting pre-built gaming PC manufacturers source the card at a lower price, whether those price-savings were transferred to the end-users, is a different question. To what measure NVIDIA could lower prices of the GTX TITAN-Z, is not known at this point. Retailers like OCUK were seen offering their GTX TITAN-Z cards at a slightly reduced price, last week. Across the big pond, American retailer Newegg sold-out an ASUS-branded GTX TITAN-Z for as low as US $1,500.

In the wake of GTX 980, AMD cut prices of its dual-GPU flagship product, the Radeon R9 295X2, down to $999. It's hard to imagine that competition from this card, and the GTX 980, are the only factors driving down prices of the GTX TITAN-Z in such a big way. Could NVIDIA be working on its next dual-GPU flagship graphics card already? Perhaps one based on a pair of GM204 chips, with thermal and power requirements as low as those of the GTX 690? Gigabyte announced a new G1.Gaming series socket LGA1150 motherboard for gamers who don't plan on overclocking their CPUs, the G1.Sniper B6. Retaining the classic black+green color scheme, which should go well with reference-design GTX 980 and GTX 970 graphics cards, the G1.Sniper B6 is based on Intel B85 Express chipset, and comes with out of the box support for Core "Haswell" and "Devil's Canyon" CPUs. On the flip-side, while the board features two long PCI-Express x16 slots, only one of the two is gen 3.0 x16, and wired to the CPU. The other is electrical gen 2.0 x4, wired to the PCH, instead. The board hence lacks NVIDIA SLI support.

Drawing power from a combination of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS connectors, the board features an 8-phase CPU VRM. Other expansion slots include two each of PCI-Express 2.0 x1 and legacy PCI. Storage connectivity includes an M.2 10 Gb/s slot, and four SATA 6 Gb/s and two SATA 3 Gb/s ports. Gamer-grade features include AMP UP onboard audio featuring an EMI-shielded 115 dBA SNR CODEC, ground-layer isolation, audio-grade electrolytic capacitors, and a user-replaceable headphones amp; and Intel gigabit Ethernet. Expect this board to be priced under $120.

NVIDIA today made available a new WHQL-certified graphics card driver, the GeForce 340.52. This release is recommended for Metro: Redux and Final Fantasy XIV, it brings multiple new and updated SLI profiles and allows the streaming of PC games to the just-released SHIELD tablet. The GeForce 340.52 has support for the GeForce 8, 9, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700 Series cards and for the ION and ION LE GPUs.

Gigabyte may have struck a superb price-features sweet-spot with the Z97X-SLI, which the company unveiled at its Computex wall. This board, we're hearing, will be priced around $125, and has a feature-set to rival boards much pricier. To begin with, the socket LGA1150 board is based on Intel's Z97 Express chipset. The board draws power from a combination of 24-pin ATX and 8-pin EPS power connectors, and conditions it using a simple 4-phase VRM, that uses 60A chokes. The VRM area is clad with heatsinks all around. The CPU socket is wired to four DDR3 DIMM slots, supporting up to 32 GB of dual-channel DDR3 memory, and two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, which run at x8/x8, when both are populated. This is also among the few motherboards in its price bracket to support NVIDIA SLI, apart from AMD CrossFire.

Apart from the two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, three PCI-Express 2.0 x1, and a couple of legacy PCI slots make up the expansion area. Its storage area is where the package gains tons of value. You get six SATA 6 Gb/s ports, from which two can convert into a SATA-Express 10 Gb/s port; and an M.2 slot. The board features high-grade audio, including a Realtek ALC1150 HD audio CODEC, which offers SNR as high as 115 dBA; with ground-layer isolation, and a headphones amp. Networking is care of an Intel-made GbE controller. Display outputs include dual-link DVI, D-Sub, and HDMI. Legacy connectivity includes LPT and COM (by headers), and PS/2. AMI Aptio UEFI BIOS, backed by dual-UEFI redundancy, is at this board's helm. For around $125, you can't get this board's feature-set wrong.

With less than three weeks to go until the official launch of the 9 Series chipsets, Gigabyte has decided to share a few pictures depicting three of its boards powered by the Z97. Seen below are the Z97X-UD5H BK (Black Edition), the Z97X-UD7 TH and the overclocking-ready Z97X-SOC Force which feature support for Haswell Refresh and older LGA1150 processors.

All three boards have an Ultra Durable design, they are SLI and CrossFire capable (the UD5 and UD7 provide three PCI-Express x16 slots while the SOC model offers four such slots), and include four DDR3 memory slots, one SATA Express connector, two (Z97X-SOC) or four (Z97X-UD5H, Z97X-UD7) SATA 6.0 Gbps ports, 7.1 channel audio and Gigabit Ethernet (the UD7 TH and SOC Force pack a Killer E2200 NIC).

NVIDIA has today rolled out a new graphics card driver, the GeForce 335.23. This WHQL-certified release has support for GeForce 8, 9, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700 and Titan Series cards and ION GPUs and it brings 'enhanced' GPU clock offset options for the Maxwell-powered GeForce GTX 750 Ti and GTX 750 models, plus some updated SLI and 3D Vision profiles. This driver is also recommended for Respawn's multiplayer FPS Titanfall.

In a move by NVIDIA that could present enthusiasts with deep pockets more options in the high-end GPU segment, the company is planning not one, but two high-end graphics cards for this quarter (January to March). The company is planning to follow up its February launch of the GeForce GTX TITAN Black Edition with a dual-GPU card based on the GK110 silicon, presumably named "GeForce GTX 790." The card will be launched some time in March, and could help NVIDIA hold onto its own until it can make high-end GPUs on the teething next-generation 20 nm silicon fab process.

The GeForce GTX TITAN Black Edition replaces the GTX TITAN with a product that's not too different from the GTX 780 Ti in terms of core-configuration, but one that comes with 6 GB of memory, full double-precision floating point performance, and probably higher clock speeds. It offers the full complement of 2,880 CUDA cores, 240 TMUs, 48 ROPs, and a 384-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface. This card could displace the current GTX TITAN from its $999 price-point.

NVIDIA has today made available a new graphics card driver, the WHQL-certified GeForce 331.82. This fresh build is claimed to offer the 'best possible gaming experience' in Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag and Need for Speed: Rivals, and includes fixes, as well tweaks to boost performance in various games.

According to NVIDIA this driver increases SLI performance (when running at 4K resolutions) by as much as 50% in key titles like Metro: Last Light, Crysis 3, and Battlefield 4. The GeForce 331.82 supports the GeForce 8, 9, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700 Series cards and the ION and ION LE GPUs.

Teaming up with multiple system builders, NVIDIA has today launched GeForce GTX Battlebox, a program which is claimed to deliver a 'new breed of gaming machine', one capable of playing this year's hottest PC titles at 'super high resolutions, at high settings and with every NVIDIA-exclusive feature enabled'.

Offered by the likes of MAINGEAR, Origin, Digital Storm, CyberPowerPC, Scan Computers and others, a system bearing the GeForce GTX Battlebox seal of approval will feature overclocked Intel Haswell Core i5/i7 CPUs, advanced cooling systems, high quantities of fast RAM, speedy SSDs, and two or three GeForce GTX 780 cards in SLI. To complete the package, the system builders will also offer 4K monitors (like the 31.5-inch ASUS PQ321Q) at the point of sale.

NVIDIA launched its newest performance segment graphics card, the GeForce GTX 760. Designed to succeed GeForce GTX 660, it displaces the GeForce GTX 660 Ti from the product stack. Based on the same GK104 silicon as GeForce GTX 770, it features 1,152 CUDA cores, 96 TMUs, 32 ROPs, and a 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding 2 GB of memory. NVIDIA partners are free to come up with factory-overclocked, non-reference design, and 4 GB variants, from day one.

The GeForce GTX 760 offers clock speeds of 980 MHz core, 1033 MHz GPU Boost, and 6.00 GHz memory (192 GB/s). It features GPU Boost 2.0, which rewards better cooling, with better sustenance of GPU Boost clock states. Interestingly, NVIDIA let it support 3-way and 4-way SLI, which is a first for this market segment. The GTX 760 starts at a pleasantly surprising US $249.99, available starting today. The Classified brand extension marks the very best from EVGA's stable. The company showed off its GeForce GTX 780 and GTX 770 Classified cards, which combine a meaty new variant of its ACX cooling solution, with custom-design PCBs. The GTX 780 Classified should make EVGA ready for when NVIDIA allows custom-design GTX TITAN. Drawing power from two 8-pin PCIe power connectors, the GTX 780 Classified appears to feature a 14-phase VRM, which makes the PCB a good inch or two taller than most full-height cards. That's also a reasonable trade-off to keep the cooler dual-slot, which would greatly help with SLI builds using the card. Moving on to the GTX 770 Classified, the card offers a similar 14-phase VRM, draws power from a pair of 8-pin connectors, features 4 GB of memory, and features an ACX identical cooling solution to the GTX 780 Classified. EVGA didn't disclose clock speeds, both cards appear to feature redundant BIOS, the GTX 780 Classified features header for an EVBot-like device.

NVIDIA launched the business-end of its GeForce GTX 700 series, launching the GeForce GTX 770. Tough to make apart from GeForce GTX 780 and GeForce GTX TITAN visually, the GTX 770 is based on the 28 nm GK104 silicon, configured similarly to the GeForce GTX 680 from the previous generation, albeit with higher clock speeds, GPU Boost 2.0, and a stronger VRM to sustain those higher clock speeds. The card ships with 1046 MHz core, 1085 MHz GPU Boost, and a blistering 7010 MHz (GDDR5-effective) memory. It features 2 GB of memory, 4 GB variants could launch soon.

The GeForce GTX 770 packs 1,536 CUDA cores, 128 TMUs, and 32 ROPs, and a 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface. At its given memory speeds, it could belt out 224 GB/s of memory bandwidth. To support these higher clock speeds, the card draws power from a combination of 8-pin and 6-pin PCIe power connectors. Display outputs include a pair of DVI, an HDMI, and DisplayPort. The card can pair with three more of its kind, for 4-way SLI. As predicted, the GeForce GTX 770 starts at US $399. NVIDIA's partners could come out with custom-design cards from day-one.

It turns out that NVIDIA's upcoming high-end graphics card, the GeForce GTX 780, is indeed based on the GK110 chip, and to the extant of featuring the same reference-design PCB and cooling solution as the GeForce GTX TITAN. Chinese portal IT168 posted press-shots of the card. If you overlook the "GTX 780" embossing on the cooler, half the number of memory chips, and another very subtle difference, you will easily mistake the GTX 780 for a GTX TITAN.

Pictures reveal the card to feature an ASIC bearing the number "GK110-300-A1," which is rumored to feature 2,304 CUDA cores, 192 TMUs, 48 ROPs, and a 384-bit wide memory interface. Given that the card features just twelve 2 Gbit memory chips, the total memory amount should be 3 GB. The card is said to feature clock speeds of 863 MHz core, 902 MHz GPU Boost, and 6.00 GHz memory, which belts out 288 GB/s memory bandwidth. It draws power from a combination of 6-pin and 8-pin PCIe power connectors. The 4-way SLI-capable card gives out display from a pair of dual-link DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort connectors.

Futuremark rolled out a major update to its 3DMark benchmark suite. Update v1.1.0 introduces Ice Storm extreme preset for the Windows version of the software (it was exclusive to the Android version), and optimizes the software for four-GPU and three-GPU setups. This could improve the scores for setups with GeForce GTX 690 Quad-SLI or Radeon HD 7990 CrossFireX. Months of work was put into getting this part right, according to the developer. At a media event held in its Taipei headquarters, GIGABYTE demonstrated its AMP-UP integrated audio solution that will feature on some of its upcoming motherboards. On that pretense, it even got to show of two of its top socket LGA1150 motherboards, built for Core "Haswell" processors, the G1.Sniper 5, and the G1.Sniper M5. Positioned in gamer-overclocker targeted G1.Killer series, the two boards are based on Intel Z87 Express chipset. The G1.Sniper 5 is the larger standard ATX motherboard; while the M5 is a compact micro-ATX offering. The pictures also confirm that socket LGA1150 retention module and bolt-spacing is identical to sockets LGA1155 and LGA1156.

The G1.Sniper 5 appears to feature a 16-phase VRM, which uses ferrite-core chokes, and the same International Rectifier PowIRstage components as Ultra Durable 5 motherboards from the previous generation. This time around, the CPU plays a greater role in voltage regulation. The driver-MOSFETs on the board are cooled by an active fan-heatsink, which also has a liquid channel running through it, so you could make it part of your CPU loop. Thankfully GIGABYTE didn't let its imagination run away with designs of the other heatsinks on the board, one of which cools the Z87 Express chipset, and the other we imagine, a PLX PEX8747 48-lane PCI-Express 3.0 bridge chip. This chip gets you 4-way SLI/CrossFireX support.
