SMART Announces the HRS-M1 Ruggedized MLC SSD

SMART High Reliability Solutions ("SMART HRS"), a provider of current and next-generation solid-state storage solutions specializing in ruggedized, high-performance and high-capacity solid-state drives ("SSDs") for defense, aerospace and industrial markets, today announced its HRS-M1 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s SSD. The M1 has been successfully sampled with key customers and is now available in volume quantities to qualified customers.

Emphasizing the company's exclusive focus on highly ruggedized, reliable and secure solid-state storage solutions, the HRS-M1 is packaged in a high strength, industrial designed enclosure to protect it from harsh elements. The M1 is designed and tested per MIL-STD-810 to operate in high shock and vibration applications at industrial operating temperatures of -40°C to +85°C. The HRS-M1 is also certified for operation at altitudes up to 80,000 ft.

SMART Modular Announces Industry's First 32GB DDR4 NVDIMM-N

SMART Modular Technologies, Inc., a leader in specialty memory, storage and hybrid solutions including memory modules, Flash memory cards and other solid state storage products, today announced sample availability of its 32GB DDR4 NVDIMM-N, making it the highest density DDR4 NVDIMM-N module available in the industry. SMART will begin sampling at the end of August 2016. The new 32GB density significantly improves application performance making it ideal in server and storage environments.

NVDIMMs transform main DRAM memory into persistent memory, resulting in higher performing servers by allowing big data, transaction logs, and other latency and performance-sensitive data to be accessed at DRAM speeds without the risk of data loss. Rather than reading and writing data or transaction logs to traditional storage media such as SATA SSDs, PCIe NVMe SSDs, or HDDs, data can be written to and read from main memory without the risk of data loss due to any catastrophic power loss event. Server performance as measured by lower latency, higher IOPS, and greater endurance, all dramatically increase with the integration of NVDIMMs.

SMART Modular Technologies Announces DDR4 Industrial Grade Modules

SMART's DDR4 industrial grade modules join SMART's very successful DDR3 offering and are targeted for networking, telecom and industrial applications exposed to harsh operating conditions.

As with all of SMART's products, quality is paramount and SMART applies its unique and stringent testing processes to insure each of its DDR4 industrial grade modules, operating at DDR4-2133 1.2V, can reliably operate at industrial grade temperatures (-40°C to +85°C). Customized test programs, test flows and specialized equipment are used to eliminate weak bits and DRAMs likely to fail under temperature stress. SMART's industrial grade modules are 100% system tested at high speeds starting with a cold boot at -40°C and ramping to +85°C ambient operation. Testing durations vary depending on the density of the module.

High utilization custom testing software insures that all cells in the DRAMs are fully stressed through the complete temperature cycle. SMART has been conducting extensive DRAM screening on millions of DRAM components for many years. Based on data collected both internally and from customers, SMART's industrial grade module testing is proven to be extremely effective.

SMART Modular Expands Its Lineup of DDR4 NVDIMMs With 8GB and 16GB Densities

SMART's full lineup of DDR4 NVDIMMs now include two configurations; a single rank eight bit configuration in 4GB and 8GB densities, and the new 8GB and 16GB options. The new NVDIMMs are targeted for server and storage applications to improve performance.

SMART Modular Announces M.2 SATA SSD with SafeDATA Technology

Unique to these new DDR4-2133 NVDIMMs is SMART's proprietary SafeStor technology, the engine which initiates backup and restore operations upon command from the host controller. The NVDIMM modules also support multiple command delivery options to trigger SafeStor backup during a host-detected power outage and recovery events. The SafeStor engine employs multi-channel fast NAND and high-speed switching circuitry to provide robust backup and restore capability, all while functioning as a JEDEC standard DDR4 RDIMM during normal operation. SMART Modular Unveils XR-DIMM Small Form Factor DDR3 Module

SMART Modular Technologies, Inc., a leading independent designer, manufacturer and supplier of value added subsystems including memory modules, flash memory cards and other solid state storage products, today announced its new XR-DIMM small form factor DDR3 module, specifically designed for ruggedized single board computing (SBC) applications requiring high reliability, density and performance attributes.

SMART's XR-DIMM solves the traditional space-constraint issue for Advanced Memory Card (AMC) form factor SBC's, where the clips from the horizontally mounted SO-DIMM's socket violate the "keep-out" areas of the card and interfere with the system chassis when the AMC card is removed. The XR-DIMM solves this issue by using a low profile, snap-down mezzanine connector with no clips. In addition, SMART's XR-DIMM form factor provides a ruggedized attach method and features improved signal integrity ideal for AMC cards, as well as ATCA, PCIe, and COMe embedded computing applications.

SMART Introduces New Memory Module Form Factor

SMART Modular Technologies, Inc., a leading independent designer, manufacturer and supplier of value added subsystems including memory modules, flash memory cards and other solid state storage products, today announced MIP, the industry's first module-in-a-package memory form factor. SMART's innovative tiny form factor design is targeted for broadcast video, mobile router, high-end video/graphics cards and embedded computing applications where power consumption, performance and space limitations are of principle concern.

While SMART's MIP occupies just one-fifth the area of an SO-DIMM, it offers higher performance and consumes less power. Key improvements with MIP include 42% power savings, 42% jitter reduction, and 39% PK/PK savings. Being a "soldered down" module, unlike an SO-DIMM, the need for a mating connector is eliminated with MIP. SMART's MIP supports both, applications requiring ECC and the ones that do not. These are key benefits for applications where memory capacity in a small space is critical. And unlike other DRAM down-board usage scenarios, the MIP contains on-package address and CNTRL termination.

SMART Modular Technology Announces 24GB CoolFlex DDR3 RDIMM

SMART Modular Technologies, Inc., a leading independent designer, manufacturer and supplier of value added subsystems including memory modules, flash memory cards and other solid state storage products, today announced the addition of a 24GB CoolFlex RDIMM to its product lineup. The 24GB DDR3-1333 1.35V RDIMM helps solve unique memory capacity constraints in servers. SMART's CoolFlex module product family uses state-of-the-art flexible substrate technology to increase system memory capacity.

Servers configured with two processors and sixteen registered DIMMs are generally limited to a maximum memory capacity of 256GB. When using 16GB DDR3-1333 RDIMMs these systems can be fully populated. However, when switching to 32GB four-rank RDIMMs, the maximum number of DIMMs per Channel (DPC) drops down to one. A system configured with two channels per processor and four DIMMs per channel can only be populated with one 32GB RDIMM per channel for a total memory capacity of 128GB. SMART's new 24GB Coolflex RDIMM solves this constraint by allowing these systems to be fully populated with sixteen 24GB RDIMMs totaling 384GB and representing a 50% increase in memory capacity.

SMART Modular Technologies Announces 64GB DDR3 Load-Reduced DIMM
