Arozzi Vernazza Gaming Chair Review

A Closer Look - Backrest

The backrest is 48 cm (18.9") wide and 86 cm (33.9") long. Even though the Vernazza is supposed to be able to hold a user of up to 145 kg (320 lb), the backrest's dimensions are almost the same or, in some cases, even shorter than for chairs that are for smaller and lighter users. The cushioning is adequate since the foam is very comfortable and has a density of 65 kg/m3, but the chair's overall profile is slim, which makes the chair ideal for cramped working or gaming spaces. The chair's frame is covered by the cushioning well, and none of us felt the frame while using this chair. However, we don't have anyone who weighs more than 80 kg (176.37 lb) around and can't with absolute certainty state whether someone weighing more would feel the frame or not.

Our Vernazza is covered in black PU, which means it can fit right into just about any working or gaming environment. The PU upholstery tries to imitate the touch of real leather, but does so with limited success since we found some points where the upholstery was folded, and PU is much softer than real leather. The stitching is black, and some geometrical patterns are present to make the chair look more interesting. There are two plastic bits that cover the screws which secure the backrest to the metal brackets of the seat's base. Although they mesh nicely with the chair's overall aesthetics, they aren't of very good quality.

The backrest's angle is adjustable via a lever with a grip on the right side of the seat's base. While there is a mention on the packaging that the backrest can recline by up to 180 degrees, its reclining angle only ranges from 160–170 degrees. We won't complain, though, since 160–170 degrees is quite enough for even those who want to take a good nap in this chair.

The Vernazza can also be tilted by up to 12 degrees via a lever under the seat. A knob that protrudes from under the seat's base can be used to adjust the tilt's resistance. Another lever on the left side, under the seat's base, is for locking in place or unlocking the chair's recline.

The company name makes two appearances on front of the backrest. On the headrest are an embedded name in white stitching and a capital "A" in red stitching, in a calligraphic font, and the same can again be found on a black cotton tag.

The last inscription is on the rear of the backrest, and it is exactly the same as on front.

A Closer Look at the Seat Base

The seat's base is 44 cm (17.3") wide and 52 cm (20.5") deep. To match the chair's overall design, the seat's base has raised flaps, though they are only raised by a bit to ensure the seat's entire base can be utilized. There is plenty of cushioning since the foam's density is 70 kg/m³, which is enough for a really comfortable seating experience even in comparison to more expensive chair models. Whether the seat's base will keep its original shape as time goes on remains to be seen, however.

Under the seat's base, two elastic bands have been placed for some additional support since this chair also supports large users.

A lever under the seat's base, on the right side of it, is used to adjust the chair's height, which can range from 69.5–76.5 cm (27.4–30.1").

The seat's base is covered in black PU upholstery with a stitching in the same color. On both the contoured edges, a stitching design appears, resembling a stripe, and it is the only decorative aspect on the seat's base. Finally, we did not find any references to the company name on the seat's base.

Armrests

The armrests are made out of PU. They have a button, each, and are 3D, which means their height can be adjusted. The arm pads can be moved forward/backward and inward/outward.

These armrests are as big as they should be, and their cushioning is satisfactory, though not spongy enough.

Hydraulics

We haven't yet come across a chair with a gas lift other than the class 4. The Vernazza also comes with a typical class 4 gas lift that is responsible for all height adjustments. Not all desks are the same, and a chair's height should thus be adjustable, ranging from a low to a high point.

Five-Star Base And Caster Wheels

The plastic five-star base is thick, in an anthrax color, and has a rough and bumpy texture to it that had somehow collected dust, which meant it did not make a good initial impression. Hopefully, it will last, and withstand the stated weight limit.

The five caster wheels are covered in PU, look bulky, and are 60 mm in diameter.

Support Cushions

The Vernazza doesn't come with integrated lumbar support. Instead, two cushions are included in the bundle for extra lumbar support. Both cushions were pre-installed, which makes the chair's overall assembly quicker and easier.

The neck cushion is big and fluffy and has an opening towards its lower half. It is covered in the same PU material as the rest of the chair. The company's name and logo have been put on the cushion's upper side, with the same stitching combination also on the headrest.

The lumbar-support cushion is of the same design as those for other chairs and is covered in PU. Its foam density is satisfactory, and it features the same stitching combination as the neck cushion. Both cushions have elastic bands with safety clips for easy placement.
