Introduction

Be Quiet! Logo

From the be quiet! website:
#1 for power supplies in Germany

be quiet! products are convincing, which is proven by the company reaching the leadership position of Germany's PSU market in 2006 and defending it since. Their position has also been validated by numerous awards for both power supplies and cooling solutions.

Repeated winner of Manufacturer of the Year

Readers of the well-know German hardware magazine PC Games Hardware have awarded be quiet! the Manufacturer of the Year award six times in a row. Another first and second rank in the categories "fans" and "coolers" for two consecutive years underline the high acceptance of our products.

be quiet! is a top-tier manufacturer of a tremendous number of PC products. Recently, they have stormed on to the case market, but have long been favourites in regards to power supplies, fans, and coolers. They are not a brand that just pads shelves with products as many of their offerings have won numerous awards from reviewers and readers alike. You could say that be quiet! has earned its popularity by following through on its mantra of "no compromise silence and performance." Considered on par with Noctua in regards to quality and performance, it's not hard to guess that their latest products will once again be quite impressive.

In today's review, I will be taking a look at the Dark Rock Pro 4, a dual-fan, dual-tower design like previous Pro offerings. It features seven Ø6 mm heat pipes and a 135 mm SilentWings fan, and a 120 mm one as well. It goes without saying that be quiet!'s offering is similar in some respects to the Dark Rock Pro 3. However, with time comes refinement, and while the Dark Rock Pro 3 was an exceptional offering, a quick glance at the Dark Rock Pro 4 has it looking like a worthy replacement.

Packaging

In terms of size, the Dark Rock Pro 4 comes in a box that measures in at roughly 20 cm in length, 18 cm in width, and 20.9 cm in height. The front gives you a nice look at the beast itself and the rated TDP. A few features, such as the SilentWings fans, are mentioned as well. Taking a look at the left side, a small paragraph about be quiet! can be found in various languages, as well as features listed in different languages. On the back is the good stuff, such as the unit's measurements and specifications.

On the right are some images and lists which further detail the Dark Rock Pro 4's features, while the top just has the name and TDP.

Contents

Opening the box, you will be greeted by a lot of foam surrounding the Dark Rock Pro 4. Mounting hardware is located on the left side in a seperate box, along with the instruction manual. Honestly, the packaging here is quite good and I have no complaints.

Its always nice when a manufacturer goes the extra step. While the Dark Rock Pro 4 from be quiet! has everything you need, they were also nice enough to include a proper screwdriver. Many may not have one that is long enough, so them going the extra step, while somewhat required here, is still nice to see as it shows attention to detail. They have included extra fan clips for a third potential cooling fan for those who want to really push the limit with an air cooler.
