BitFenix Phenom M Review

Introduction

I would like to thank BitFenix for supplying the review sample.

BitFenix made a big splash with the Prodigy offering a cube form factor and the ability to hold long graphics cards, and flexible handles for easy transport—all at a reasonable price. Followed by the Prodigy M, which we will review shortly, the company has now released the Phenom derivative of these cases. Both use the same housing as their Prodigy counterparts, but aim at the crowd in need of storage space instead of portability. The unit on our test bench is the Phenom Micro-ATX: It can hold mATX motherboards, but lacks 3.5" cages. Here is what BitFenix has to say about this enclosure:
The latest BitFenix small form factor chassis, Phenom Micro-ATX combines an elegantly modern outlook with an incredibly flexible internal structure for a cube design like no other. The subtle curves coated in premium BitFenix SofTouch™ Surface Treatment offer a luxuriously matte finish, while the clean and uncluttered styling makes Phenom a perfect fit in virtually any environment. Designed for Micro-ATX motherboards, Phenom Micro-ATX delivers superb flexibility with support for dual long graphics cards, tall CPU coolers, and even slim water cooling radiators. Users can install up to four hard disks or six SSDs, and two high-speed USB 3.0 ports ensure lightning-quick transfers of today's high-definition media. Along with a fully powder-coated interior, rolled cable pass-throughs, and unique heat shield, Phenom Micro-ATX delivers the quintessential BitFenix experience in an SFF form factor.

Packaging

Just like with all BitFenix cases, the Phenom Micro-ATX ships in a plain cardboard box with the company logo on the front and various images of the chassis on the rear. Both sides also feature information in way of another drawing of the case and its specifications. A sticker also lets the picker in the warehouse know which color is within the box.

The Phenom Micro-ATX is held in place by fairly thick Styrofoam spacers, and a plastic bag protects it from scratches and fingerprints, so you should get your chassis in perfect condition.
