Cooler Master MM731 Review

Introduction

Cooler Master Logo

Founded in 1992, Cooler Master is a computer hardware company based in Taiwan. A follow-up to the MM530, the wireless MM731 achieves an exceptionally low weight of 59 g without resorting to externally visible holes. Owing to PixArt's PAW3370 sensor capable of 19,000 CPI, the MM731 is cited to have a battery life of 190 hours in Bluetooth and up to 72 hours in 2.4 GHz mode without illumination. Optical switches are used for the main buttons, which provide low latency and are incapable of developing double clicking due to wear and tear. The MM731 also comes with pure PTFE feet, along with a wireless extender (USB Type-C) and set of grip tape. The usual customization options are available through Cooler Master MasterPlus+, including for the RGB lighting. The MM731 is available in black or white.

Disclaimer: On the launch firmware, the MM731 suffers from excessively high motion delay, unstable polling, and slam-clicking. All of these issues have been addressed on the most recent firmware, which is why installing said firmware is strongly recommended. All assertions made in this review are based on the most recent firmware.
