Corsair Professional Series HX1050 Review

A Look Inside »

Packaging

The packaging is large and quite long. On the front there is a close up of the new design that Corsair utilized for the fan grills. On the rear side we find lots of info regarding the features of the PSU, the available connectors, noise and efficiency graphs etc.

Contents

Inside the box two thick layers of packaging foam protect the PSU. For even greater protection the latter is wrapped in a plastic bag and on top of that it is stored in a cloth bag. Good job, Corsair.

The bundle includes a nylon pouch that holds all modular cables, several zip ties, a Corsair badge, an AC power cord, four fixing bolts (unfortunately not thumbscrews) and a user's manual.

Exterior

The PSU features a black matte finish which is fairly scratch resistant and fingerprint proof. The fan grill utilizes a new design which adds points to the unit's appearance. Many will confuse this design with the one that Be Quiet! uses for their PSUs but while in the latter company's products the fan grills extend to all the PSU casing, in HX1050 the fan grills cover only the fan's area and the case features some bumps that follow the lines of the fan grills.

The PSU is rather heavy and quite long, something natural since its capacity is huge. All hardwired cables are fully sleeved back into the housing and there is a grommet around the cable exit hole. All in all external quality is top notch.
