Closer Look


Here, you can see the Cougar Revenger's scroll wheel in all its glory. The deep crevices not only create a very nice look, but help with wheel control, as it is easier to tell by how much the scroll wheel has spun. Unfortunately, these are a magnet for dust and crumbs.


This is the trigger button, named so because you need to pull it towards the back of the mouse to activate it, much like an actual gun trigger. Just like the mouse wheel, it has some ridges to help with grip. Cougar has been nice enough to offer a decent amount of space between the scroll wheel and the trigger button - your index or middle finger will easily fit inside the gap.


This is the Revenger's back, shown with and without illumination. Both lit zones at the back, the logo and the strip, use the same LED, which makes setting their colors separately impossible.


The left side hosts the two large programmable buttons, DPI indicator, and rubberized side grip. I find the placement of the buttons to be "just right" - they're easily accessible with the thumb without having to move or stretch the entire hand. They're also quite large, adding to their ease of control.

The lighting of the DPI level (both in terms of color and intensity) can be customized using the UIX software Cougar includes. The LEDs are bright, so the DPI level is easy to read, even in brightly lit rooms. The rubberized grip covers the entire left area of the mouse beneath the buttons and the DPI indicator.


The right side is pretty uneventful - we have the large grip that covers it entirely, and the U-shaped back LED can be seen here, too. Additionally, you can see that the right button is positioned slightly lower than the left one, which results in a more comfortable grip because it allows for your hand to rest more naturally on the mouse.


The underside of the Cougar Revenger hosts the three sliding pads; two of these are placed underneath the mouse buttons and a larger, curved third pad covers the very back of the device. The optical sensor is dead in the middle, where the center of mass is.
