Packaging & Contents

Measuring in at roughly 16.2 cm in length, 13.33 cm in width, and 19.7 cm in height, the box CRYORIG uses is rather small. Then again, a small cooler also makes for a small box, so there is nothing out of the ordinary here. Look at the front of the box and you will be greeted by a huge image of the H7 Universal and CRYORIG's logo. There is also a small paragraph that details the cooler's efficient design and the QF120 fan. "H7" has been put on the left side, clearly visible. Look at the back of the box and you will find the heatsink's and fan's specifications and a list of all supported sockets. LGA775, LGA1366, and LGA 2011 are unfortunately not listed as those three sockets are currently not supported.

On the right side are the H7 Universal's features. These include its Hive Fin Design, Jet Fin Acceleration System, and Infinite RAM compatibility, just to name a few. CRYORIG and its saying "Research Idea Gear" are on top. Pull open the top flap and you are greeted by a reminder asking you to register your purchase. Doing so will also net you a warranty of six rather than three years, which is always nice. A good warranty shows that a company is willing to stand behind its products, and CRYORIG's six year warranty is something the competition could learn from as well.

When I finally opened the box, the CRYORIG H7 was nestled inside the cardboard box. While not the greatest form of protection, it did hold the cooler in place firmly, which kept it from bouncing around inside the box. However, the packaging should have includes some foam to protect the H7 well. I would have liked a bit of foam for some further protection, but considering the H7's price, I won't complain as the box and the protection it did offer, while lackluster, is no worse than what the competition uses.

The heatsink's small size allows it to offer maximum memory clearance. However, CRYORIG has included fan clips for a dual-fan configuration if your goal is to maximize performance. Keep in mind, though, that a second fan will make for a taller cooler due to the VRM heatsinks on most motherboards. That said, users will find that everything they need to mount the cooler is included. The simplicity of CRYORIG's mounting system is intriguing. You won't find a ton of screws, bolts, spacers, and nuts. Instead, the simple mounting hardware should make this cooler a breeze to install as there is hardly any hardware to it.

Common parts supplied for mounting include:
  • 4x Backplate screws
  • 4x Plastic pillars
  • 4x Fan clips
  • 2x User's manual
  • 1x X-bar mounting plate
  • 1x Backplate
  • 1x 120 x 120 x 25 mm fan
  • 1x Heatsink
  • 1x Tube of thermal compound
