Glorious Modular Mechanical Keyboard 2 Compact TKL (65%) Review

Introduction

Glorious Logo

See the logo above? I took the liberty of changing it from the previous one used by Glorious PC Gaming Race, which made its debut on TechPowerUp over three years ago with a mouse pad, and then the original Glorious Modular Mechanical Keyboard that was among the first retail keyboards with hot-swappable switches—a feature now fairly commonplace. It was initially only a full-size keyboard that launched at $110, although it can now be had for all of $85 in other form factors while stock lasts. We have had plenty of other Glorious-branded product reviews since, including the for the money impressive GMMK Pro 75% gasket-mount keyboard, and common across the board is the lack of the "PC Gaming Race" tagline outside of the company branding itself. Glorious, as it effectively is referred to, is undergoing a brand update in 2022 to account for these changing times, and the much-awaited Glorious Modular Mechanical Keyboard 2 is the debuting product of this exercise.

The GMMK 2, as it will be referred to both officially and in this review, launches the day this review is published. It comes in two form factors—a full-size 96% (review here for those interested) and compact TKL (65%), which is the subject of this review. Some liberties are being taken with the naming, but I'll allow it since both come in a few different options, too. For one, there is a barebones kit as before for the option to go with the switches and keycaps of your choice. Second, there are three color options at launch: black, white, and a glorious pink. We also get QMK and VIA support, and the pre-built editions, which I have here, use the company's new Glorious Fox switches and new ABS doubleshot keycaps. There's a lot to see both inside and out in this review that begins with a look at the product specifications in the table below.
