We used the latest public release version of the game (not a press pre-release). We also used the latest game-ready drivers from both AMD and NVIDIA.
Graphics Memory Usage
Using a GTX 1080 Ti, which has 11 GB of VRAM, we tested the game's memory usage.
Even at Ultra settings the game is quite modest in its VRAM requirements; a 3 GB card seems sufficient for all resolutions except 4K, where a 4 GB card is recommended.
"Hold on", I hear you say. What's going on with Vega here? Performance should be much higher!
Seems that my test scene is hitting some kind of Vega performance bottleneck. When looking at the GPU load, it hovers only at around 50% on Vega - all other cards are fine. I tried various other locations and this effect is only strong in a single location in the game, so I picked another test scene as that's more representative of the whole game. AMD has been notified of this behaviour; hopefully, they show interest in fixing it.
Below are the test results with the second test scene - everything is performing roughly as expected.
CPU ScalingWe also tested the game with various core counts and HyperThreading on/off using a GTX 1080 Ti. The 720p results serve as an indicator of the CPU bottleneck - faster graphics hardware, no matter the resolution, can not give you more FPS than the results at 720p.
The results show that Kingdom Come: Deliverance makes proper use of more cores. At the minimum, you want to have a quad-core CPU. If you play at higher resolutions, like 4K, the CPU requirement gets lower, as the FPS go down too.
