The Lamptron FC5 goes all out on quality. A front milled out of an aluminum block, along with a well designed dual layer PCB, capable of powering four fans with up to 30W each; these are all excellent attributes as far as specifications and choice of materials go. You may also set the lighting color to match that of the rest of your case, or even turn it off completely - which is a rather unique touch. That said, the FC5 does exactly what other fan controllers do: give you the ability to control the cooling units within your PC and display the RPM along with voltage or temperature on the display. While the price does not really surprise me, it may still be too much for some to spend on a fan controller, especially if you do not have the option of setting your own temperature for the alarm or with no easy way to cycle through the colors and display type. Those who do not mind and will just set the unit to their preferred color along with the display output during initial installation, will be very happy with the FC5 along with its contents and the ability to even adjust powerful fans which tend to require larger amounts of power. For everyone else you may want to take a look at the FC3 or FC2, which drop the display and temperature diodes, but feature the same construction quality and clock in at just above 30 US Dollars.
