Introduction

Razer Logo

Founded in 1998, Razer is a US-based peripherals and gaming equipment company. With the V2 Pro, Razer updates 2019's Viper Ultimate across the board. The most obvious change is weight. As a result of reworking the shell structure, the loss of side buttons on the right side and inbuilt side grips, and cutting RGB, the Viper V2 Pro manages to clock in at a slim 58 g for the white version and 57 g in black. The Viper V2 Pro has also received the most recent result of Razer's and PixArt's ongoing collaboration—the PAW3950 or Focus Pro 30K sensor. On top of being capable of up to 30,000 CPI, the PAW3950 has improved surface compatibility, including glass surfaces, and even lower lift-off distance than previous models. Owing to improvements to the wireless implementation and removing RGB, the Viper V2 Pro manages a minimum battery life of 80 hours. Razer's latest third-generation optical switches rated for 90 million clicks are used for the two main buttons, promising very low latency without risk of inadvertent double-clicking. Customization and tuning is possible within Razer Synapse, and settings can be saved to the on-board memory for usage without Synapse. Lastly, the Viper V2 Pro is compatible with Razer's 4000 Hz HyperPolling Wireless dongle (see here for our review), which enables true 4000 Hz polling in wireless operation. The Viper V2 Pro is available either in black or white.
