Scythe Fuma 2 Review

A Closer Look

The Fuma 2 is an asymmetrical dual-tower heatsink with 49 evenly spaced fins. Both fin stacks differ in size considerably with the front being the thinner of the two. The fins also have angular sides and sawtooth-like cutouts, which add visual interest. Unlike most coolers of late, Scythe continues their trend of ignoring RGB lighting.

I did find it interesting that the heat pipes are oriented in a straight line. Somewhat asymmetrically spaced heat pipes wold be more efficient, which is not possible because of the design and cut fins for improved memory compatibility. Even so, the design itself is solid, and there are no faults with the build quality.

Two cutouts provide easy access to the mounting screws, meaning users can mount the fans before installing the heatsink, which is nice. In terms of looks, the top plates are black with the Scythe logo emblazoned upon them. The heat pipes and base are nickel-plated; however, the base, while smooth to the touch, still has visible machining marks. I would have liked to see a more mirror-like finish, but considering the $59.99 price point, it is not a huge deal.

The two 120 mm Kaze Flex fans supplied with the cooler differ in thickness as one is only 17 mm thick while the other is the more typical 27 mm thick. As for the specifications, both are PWM models with an RPM range of 300–1200.
