A Closer Look

A large single-tower heatsink with 36 aluminum fins, the Ninja 4 from Scythe weights 780g without its fan.

The cooler's square shape with a unique four-sided fan-mounting system makes it rather interesting; while it might limit compatibility in some situations, it should in theory improve it in others.

The Ninja 4's fins feature a shuriken stamped into them, prominently visible on the top fin. It makes for a nice visual element and pays homage to the cooler's namesake. Meanwhile, the heatpipes run up through the cooling fins from the base. The distance between these makes it seem as though there are four cooling towers. In reality, there are only two cooling towers that are connected diagonally in a way that gives them a more solid appearance.

The base of the Ninja 4 is made out of nickle-plated copper and is fairly well-polished. While not a mirror finish, it is somewhat close to one, which is certainly nice to see on an entry level solution.

The Slip Stream fan's model number is SY1225SHB12H-PS. It is a 120 mm x 120 mm x 25 mm PWM fan. Well-built, it has airflow channels in its blades and a sleeved fan cable, which is always nice to see.
