Introduction

Established in 2019 by the original founding team of Zowie, VAXEE is a peripherals company and shop platform. Unlike previous VAXEE releases, the XE doesn't focus exclusively on gaming. To that end, several changes have been made. Instead of the incredibly noisy optical scroll wheel encoder used on previous models, the XE comes with an almost as durable but less gratingly loud mechanical encoder from ALPS. Furthermore, an additional top button is present, which can be configured to act as a regular button that could be mapped in-game, or to execute various button combinations for office use, such as selecting an area for screenshots. Furthermore, a detachable USB Type-C cable is used, whose flexibility has also been improved. The feet are made of pure PTFE and have received some improvements too, including a larger surface area for a more consistent glide. In terms of internals, the XE still utilizes Huano switches for the main buttons, along with PixArt's PMW3389 sensor. Configuration is still done on-board, including for debounce time, which can be set to 3 ms now, in addition to the previous steps of 2, 4, and 8 ms. The XE is exclusively available through the VAXEE shop in black, white, pink, yellow, orange, or blue.
