Packaging and Accessories

Oh boy, this is some packaging all right! It would have been nice had YUNZII or Keynovo realized the IF98 is a brand-new premium entry for the global markets and as such merits more than an extremely generic box that states nothing aside from Keynovo loving astronauts and bad puns. YUNZII contact information is on the side, where we also spot two double flaps to secure the contents in place during transit. Opening the box, we see a quick start guide that walks you through the pre-programmed functions, YUNZII contact card, some stickers should you be interested, and the keyboard inside a wax paper wrap with a plastic dust cover on top. The rest of the accessories are in a separate layer to the top.

[Update: YUNZII says the packaging has been updated to better reflect the keyboard inside.]

YUNZII goes generous on the accessories, and I now no longer care about the simplistic packaging from before! We get add-on keycaps to match the color scheme you pick for the keyboard, including many that would not be used on this 96% keyboard. It might well be that YUNZII wants you to have the rest of the partly used keycap set, which is always nice. These are thick PBT keycaps that we will examine in more detail on the next page, and we then see a color-coordinated coiled cable that is even rarer as a stock cable! It goes from Type A to Type-C for the keyboard itself and adds a touch of flair on top of what is already shaping up to be a showpiece on your desk. Rounding off the unboxing experience are some spare switches—the same type as for the entire keyboard—and a combo keycap puller and switch remover.
