Alphacool Eiszyklon Aurora RGB LT Fan Review

Packaging and Accessories

I prefer having multiple fan samples for reviews since fans can vary from unit to unit, and testing more than one adds statistical accuracy. Alphacool sent two thus, although both are identical as far as this section goes. The Eiszyklon Aurora RGB LT fan comes in a fairly typical packaging as with most individually sold fans today, with a cardboard box that gets a wrap for aesthetics. The color scheme is predominantly black with other colors used to provide product information, including the company and product name on front, alongside a multi-colored illustration of the fan rotor and a note at the top to let us know it is part of Alphacool's Aurora LED series of products. On the back is little aside from what we already saw, and this continues with more Alphacool logos on the sides.

The box has single flaps on either end and no seals over those to help keep the contents inside in place. Opening the box, we get access to the fan immediately, which means the thin cardboard is really all that is adding protection during transit outside of the shipping packaging itself. I encourage Alphacool to improve things here since many a fan has fallen prey to this mediocre packaging, ending up with motor and/or bearing issues out of the box, especially if the retailer does not package things well either. This being a fan marketed for radiators, we get the bare minimum set of self-tapping screws should you want to use it as a case fan instead. Ideally, however, you would just use it with screws that come with radiators meant for the standard 120 x 120 x 25 mm form factor.
