Packaging

The box is quite large and at its front is a picture of the PSU with its modular panel exposed. The model description is given in large letters, and right above it are two icons for unit's efficiency and warranty. Although the icon mentions seven years, the warranty has recently been increased to ten years for all RMi, RMx, HXi, and AXi models.

All available connectors are shown on this side, along with their cable's length.

Some information about the Corsair Link software is provided on this side, and the unit's semi-passive mode and Gold-certified efficiency are also mentioned.

Here's a list of the unit's most notable features in three different languages.

On the rear are two graphs for the PSU's efficiency and the fan's noise curve. Another scheme describes the PSU's dimensions, and in the bottom-right corner is the power specifications table.

Contents

The cardboard box is sturdy enough to offer adequate protection. The PSU is protected by ECO friendly material instead of packing foam. As you can see in the photos above, Corsair put the PSU inside a nice felt bag.

The bundle includes a set of fixing bolts, a case badge, several zip ties, a nylon pouch for all the modular cables, and the product's documentation. The user's manual is the same for all RMi models.

Exterior

A sticker tells us that the fan won't spin at light and moderate loads. This is for users who aren't familiar with semi-passive PSUs.

The finish is of high quality and Corsair's distinctive fan grille makes the RM650i's externals look appealing. The small power switch sits right next to the AC socket at the front.

Two large decals on both sides depict the unit's model number. The large power specifications label has been put on the PSU's bottom.

The fully modular panel and the Corsair Link interface have been put on the back. You can either use the I2C or mini-USB connector. There is also a very useful fan-test button should you want to check on whether the fan is operating properly; push this button while the PSU is on and the fan will spin. There is also an LED indicator that will alternate between green and red while the PSU is communicating with the Corsair Link application. A solid red color means the PSU has lost its connection to the app.

The unit's dimensions are normal for its capacity, and its fully modular cabling design will make installing it much easier.

Cables

The cables are all-black, and the ATX, EPS, and PCIe cables feature filtering capacitors for even better ripple suppression. The cables also aren't flat because of these filtering capacitors.

The peripheral cables don't feature filtering caps and are, as such, flat. Not only are flat cables more flexible, they also hamper airflow inside the chassis less.
