The fresh Newton R3 with 1 kW capacity is a very good performer, with the exception of high ripple on the minor rails. It managed to keep tight voltage regulation on all rails despite the tough conditions I used for all tests, and the efficiency levels it achieved were simply amazing. I think this platform has much potential, and the new Newton would gain a much higher placement, near the top of the corresponding performance graph, if ripple on the minors were lower.
The other interesting features of this unit are its semi-fanless mode, modular stealth cables, and five-year warranty. We have come across the semi-fanless mode feature a lot lately, especially in highly efficient units; it allows for completely silent operation at low loads and under normal ambient. The price of this PSU is also right on the spot given its features. Its only direct competitor is Rosewill's Platinum 1 kW unit; however, that unit is only available in the US.

To wrap up, the Newton R3 100W is a fine unit with extra-high efficiency throughout its entire load range and ultra-stable DC outputs. Sure, its already high performance could be even higher with lower ripple on the minor rails, but real-life use probably won't stress the minor rails enough for their increased ripple to be worrisome. You should keep in mind that the most important thing in a modern PSU is the +12V rail, and the +12V rail of the Newton R3 is really good.
