Surveillance Station Pro

Surveillance Station Pro is, according to QNAP, an upgraded version of the Turbo NAS surveillance solution, and it provides the following:
  • Enhanced and additional features including support for over 1000 camera models
  • Expandable license management
  • Cross-browser support
  • Flexible camera control
  • 42 channels live-view on single display and 128 channels with multi-server monitoring
  • Five alarm events and seven event actions
  • 16 multi-view playback
  • Intelligent video analytics (IVA)
  • Visual aid by E-map which helps visualize the layout of the deployment of IP cameras
  • VMobile application for monitoring on the go from a smartphone

You have to download and install Surveillance Station Pro from QNAP's App Center since it isn't pre-installed on the NAS.

Once you input your credentials, you will be transferred to the Surveillance Station Pro web interface.

From here, you can easily setup the IP cameras you have deployed. We installed a Foscam FI8910W, one of the most popular wireless IP cameras supported by the Surveillance Station Pro.

You can search your network for IP cameras or input their IP addresses directly; that is, if you know them. The second solution will obviously save you some time.

IP camera setup finished successfully and the camera is now fully operational and recording. You can adjust settings for recording to your needs through corresponding options, or enable scheduled recording.

You can create alarms in either traditional or advanced mode. The latter provides you with more options.

You can set the maximum length of each recorded file, define what the system will do once available storage space for recordings reaches a specified threshold, how many days to keep recordings—for recordings triggered by alarms or not—in System Settings. You can also opt to set some options that have to do with the alarm-recording function and set access permissions to the cameras the NAS controls here.

The TS-470 supports up to 40 recording channels; however, it only comes with a license for one. So you will have to buy additional licenses from QNAP's store if you want to utilize more channels.
