Value and Conclusion

  • The Sennheiser PX 200-II headphones are available for $119 MSRP, but can be found online for well under $100.
  • Good value
  • Good overall performance
  • Well engineered portable design
  • Volume control (convenient sometimes)
  • Can be run out of normal player
  • Incredible build quality
  • Volume control (adds bulk, lowers durability)
  • No noise attenuation
The latest evolution of the PX 200 design performs well across the board. Their easily transportable design and amazing build quality are real treats to anyone looking for such a solution. Ultimately the sound quality is not quite up there with the best performing in-ears in the same price tier, but the PX 200-IIs excel elsewhere. The PX 200-IIs are great for just what they are, namely a set of transportable headphones. For people who cannot enjoy in-ears these are definitely worth it. The PX 200-IIs are durable, easy to put on and take off and unlike in-ears you do not have to remove them in order to have a conversation with people around you.
The volume control is a bit of an enigma to us. Why provide the user with an inferior volume control system when the i-version already has an inline remote. The non i-version would be better off not having a volume control and a lighter perhaps more sturdier cable. Hence the volume control is listed as both a pro and con.
At Sennheiser's MSRP they are good, at the current going rate online of only $80 they are a steal, pure and simple.
