The Kingston NV2 is a solid-state drive in the M.2 2280 form factor, launched on September 7th, 2022. It is available in capacities ranging from 250 GB to 2 TB. This page reports specifications for the 2 TB variant. With the rest of the system, the Kingston NV2 interfaces using a PCI-Express 4.0 x4 connection. The SSD controller is the SM2267XT from Silicon Motion, a DRAM cache is not available. Kingston has installed 112-layer TLC NAND flash on the NV2, the flash chips are made by Toshiba. Please note that this SSD is sold in multiple variants with different NAND flash or controller, which could affect performance, the "Notes" section at the end of this page has more info. To improve write speeds, a pseudo-SLC cache is used, so bursts of incoming writes are absorbed more quickly. The cache is sized at 371 GB, once it is full, writes complete at 600 MB/s. Copying data out of the SLC cache (folding) completes at 220 MB/s. Thanks to support for the fast PCI-Express 4.0 interface, performance is excellent. The NV2 is rated for sequential read speeds of up to 3,500 MB/s and 2,800 MB/s write.
At its launch, the SSD was priced at 160 USD. The warranty length is set to three years, which is above average, but shorter than the five years offered by many other vendors. Kingston guarantees an endurance rating of 640 TBW, a relatively low value compared to other SSDs.

Notes

Drive:

Kingston might swap components in the future in order to meet the volume demands for this product
There might be a revision with 512Gb dies

Controller:

The difference between this and the non-XT revision is that this revision doesn't support DRAM, in fact it supports HMB (Host Memory Buffer). Also, this revision has a different package (247-ball FCCSP).

NAND Die:

Typ. Endurance: 1700 P/E Cycle
Endurance could be from 3000 to 5000 P/E Cycles
