DOOM Eternal Coming This November

The next chapter in the smash-hit reboot of the genre-defining FPS, "DOOM Eternal," is releasing on November 22nd, 2019. Everybody's favorite run-and-gun monster-slaughter simulator will be released on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. It will also come to Google Stadia as a streamed game, just a week following the platform's launch. The premise of this game is simple, Hell has come to the Earth, and brought the Doom Slayer with it. "Eternal" also includes new multiplayer game modes, including "battlemode," where two player-controlled demons face a fully-loaded Doom Slayer. The game is up for pre-order on Steam, if you're already sold on the game by watching its E3 2019 trailer.

Can't wait. Doom 2016 is so well optimised that it runs like a dream in moderate hardware. It'll be interesting to see what the id Tech 7 engine can deliver.

That's because it runs on vulkan API. That it dosent need much to run. But year it dit not need much to run. My i7 920 and gtx 970 at the time whas smashing throw it like butter even at max settings i still had well above 100 fps.

So happy there's a release date now, after seeing that initial preview with the VVVBFG shooting stuff and the shotgun with Scorpions "get over here" thingy I was sold immediately.

Here is the full showcase from E3. Five minute in-game sequence starting at 5:50 time mark.
Mutiplayer looks rather disappointing. We'll see.

That game was excellent, one many didn't expect to be quite so funny. The only downer was the bugs, one was platinum breaking.

I have to say that I agree.

After watching the game play footage it doesn't look any different than Doom 2016 - just a boring arena shooter. Run, shoot, run, shoot, run, shoot......run, run, run, run (you have distance between yourself and targets again), shoot, run, shoot, run, shoot, ad nauseam.

Looks like a game I'll pass on.

Gonna have to agree with both of these comments. Doom 2016 was an amazing technical achievement and make for a great benchmarking tool. However the gameplay was just bland and repetitive. Doom3's storyline and gameplay in 2004 had substance, depth and suspense. Doom 2016 had none of that. Hopefully, Eternal will be more like it's predecessor from a more than a decade ago, just with the the new hotness of IDTech 7...

Well its now a Bethesda title not a Carmack title so probably not going to be much different from 2016. Bethesda does not innovate much. Fallout 3 and 4 had minimal innovation after Bethesda acquired that IP (it is Oblivion with a Fallout skin pack). Also the past innovative Idtech titles such as Doom 3, Quake 4, (and later Rage) were not popular to fans of the original Id games' series. I agree with you though and really like Doom 3. I last played through it a month ago with a friend using the Coop mod and it was a lot of fun. My guess is Doom Eternal will be just like Doom 2016 with slightly different levels and graphical filters.

VarioWell its now a Bethesda title so probably not.
To be fair, they have been getting better in the last few years with some of their series.
VarioDoom 3 and Quake 4 were not popular to fans of their respective series.
What are you talking about? It might depend on who you ask, but everyone I know loved them both for the reasons suggested above. Just saying..

I loved them myself. D3 is one of my favorite games of all time. However, a lot of Doom people seem to hate Doom 3 because of slower paced, monster closests, jump scares, flashlight versus gun tradeoff, pitch black levels, PDAs etc.

edit: also a lot of people complain about things such as weak shotguns, which leads me to think they only played the shitty BFG version of the game which had a really nerfed shotgun compared to the original release of the game.
I had game at launch in 2004 and own it on disk, the shotgun was always decent.

Tried DOOM 3 the other day with a set of high end earphones & I could not play this game. It's just too scary. I advised anyone to try this late evening in a dim lit room with a set of earphones/headphones.

About Doom 3, try the BFG Edition. You can have your weapon drawn and use flashlight at the same time :) Wasn't scary when I played it just with the same run & gun mentality like Doom 2016.

For the Doom Eternal, let's just hope that it comes to Steam. I'm not going to even register to that Bethesda crap.

Hm, I had no problems with shotguns, felt like I was just playing a remastered Doom 3.
