Rockstar Games to Drop Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer in December

As the end of the year is getting closer, Rockstar Games has taken to social media to express heartfelt gratitude to its global community of players. The legendary game developer and publisher is poised to celebrate a quarter-century of industry-defining work since its inception in 1998. In a move that has electrified the gaming community, Rockstar Games has announced plans to unveil the first trailer for the next installment in the Grand Theft Auto franchise in early December, on the company's 25th anniversary. The next-generation title is rumored to be called Grand Theft Auto VI (6), following the release of GTA V. In early December, we should see the first official trailer for GTA VI, which doesn't mean that the game is coming anytime soon.

On the contrary, the trailer could serve just to start the hype cycle. Sam Houser, the co-founder and president of Rockstar Games, has posted: "We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you." Therefore, an official launch date has yet to be set, so the community of GTA players around the globe needs to hold their patience a bit longer.

I'd imagine no less than 9 months. Frankly, I think the game is mostly ready by now but T2 definitely want as big install base of PS5s and XSXs as possible, otherwise T2 shareholders will be disappointed to see less-than-record-breaking launch numbers.

I'll watch it... just to see how generic of a game it will be.

I have no intentions of buying anything Rockstar related.

ya, GTA6 will be online only… gotta have those Micro transactions, in the form of hidden costs to play the “episodes”… after you pay the 70us dollar entrance fee…

I have never and will never play GTA. It does nothing for me. I guess that is because of Just Cause though.

I'll have to prepare the cash, gotta buy 2 copies.. $$$$$$ (Mine and my wife's copy)

Altho, always online sucks, micro transactions suck too, hopefully they don't pull all of those dirty tricks... backlash will harm some sales but who knows how much will that actually be..

Wow a trailer, maybe if I am real lucky ill get to play the game with my grandkids in 30 years lol.

In all seriousness, I used to really respect Rockstar and I do love their titles. But they have become massively lazy in the last 10 years. I understand not popping out a game every 2 years, but come on GTA V came out 10 years ago...

But since then they have also developed Red Dead Redemption 2, which is a much more advanced game than GTA. The online wasn't as popular and development ceased, though...

Oh wow, GTA with… slightly updated graphics!

Thats another hard pass. AAA studios need to start releasing some new, and creative titles. The Assassin’s creed 49, Far cry 86, and BF 2132483 are pretty tapped.

Oh I know, but 2 games in 10 years is not really acceptable considering how many franchises Rockstar owns and how much money they are making. Red Dead Redemption 2 could be my favorite campaign of all time but its still a lazy development cycle now with them considering the content they were adding to both the games online (Which is not much, just cars and little things to buy). If they were coming out with a game every 3-4 years (Like a new Bully game, RDR, Max payne, etc) I would not say much if GTA was on the back burner because at least I would think they are developing other games that take alot of development time. However right now I feel they are just sitting back and barely doing anything worth while to earn all the money they are making.

I mean, I know its working and they are making money, but they have lost alot of respect from the community and it may affect them in the future if they keep acting like this.

You've never played GTA cause you've played a far inferior game instead? And one that's quite different? Like saying I've never played Doom Eternal because I've played Fortnite.

That is your opinion. Both Games have the same Mechanic. Go anywhere, Drive any vehicle and fly anything. I know that GTA is super popular but I have never felt any attraction to that Game and Sleeping Dogs is more than enough for me.

So what would be the options? You say RDR2 has one of the best campaigns of all time. Would two RDR games with worse campaigns been better? The major complaint about new games is "this is not really finished", and a studio that actually finishes their games loose respect because of that?

You say that like this isn't going to be released on PS4 and XB1. R* ain't missing out on those numbers.

What is sad is that there are already websites that post PC spec for GTA6 following the announcement.
The info on these sites is either made up or speculation. They just want clicks and ad views from people who are too excited for the game to realize that PC release will always come later.

Except that's not entirely what GTA is about. Its what you do in the game, but the immersion in GTA is so much better, plus the story, plus the dialogue. You're basically playing Pulp Fiction. GTA is an open world action RPG with gangsta attitude and hollywood quality.

In comparison Just Cause is a bit like playing Rambo the B Movie ripoff.

How is it not acceptable? You could've wanted more perhaps, but... if they manage to make money with a tiny handful of great, strong franchises... who can blame them? As long as there's a quality product, the deal is simple right? You can buy it and enjoy it. Nowhere does it say you're guaranteed the sequel in X years.

I mean look at Valve. Stuck at 2, indefinitely, and its not like they're lacking cashflow.

I think it's the expectation of they were pumping games left and right and now that they "stopped" without giving much info then re-releasingt the same game in a skyrim manner... well, they could have said "we are working on this so we will release smaller content for gta v/RDR2" kind of thing

I doubt they are stretched thin with the development cycle they have currently on games. In the past From about GTA IV's release they had 5 different games come out in 5 years during that time including LA Noir, GTA V, RDR, and Max Payne 3(At least what would be considered AAA). After GTA V, they have essentially re-released GTA V over and over again, took 5 years to develop RDR 2, and done nothing except add more micro transaction style updates to both games for the online. I am not saying I need a new RDR every 2 years, just they need to divide up their studio a bit and work on their other title and work on sequels that are not 10 years+ apart. GTA is not a normal franchise, it should not take over 10 years for a sequel with the money they are racking in.

I am saying its not acceptable from the perspective of the reputation and respect gamers and I had for them. Yes they are making money hand over fist, and I doubt that will change anytime soon. But this has been a blow to their reputation since because the long development cycle, terrible re-releases/Updates to past games, and focus on Micro-Transactions on a game that came out on the Xbox 360/PS3 10 years ago... Bethesda has a similar problem as does Valve.

I mean again were talking over 10 years between GTA games... That is a long time in the gaming world especially considering the last gap was 5 years between them with a bunch of other games in between (And actual DLC for GTA IV).

Sales would indicate this is the opinion of 99% of people. GTA vehicle physics are well beyond Just Cause's floaty cars physics.
