The Intel Processor N97 is a mobile processor with 4 cores, launched in January 2023. It is part of the Intel Processor lineup, using the Alder Lake-N architecture with BGA 1264. Processor N97 has 6 MB of L3 cache and operates at 2000 MHz by default, but can boost up to 3.6 GHz, depending on the workload. Intel is building the Processor N97 on a 10 nm production process, the transistor count is unknown. The multiplier is locked on Processor N97, which limits its overclocking capabilities.
With a TDP of 12 W, the Processor N97 consumes very little energy. Intel's processor supports DDR4 and DDR5 memory with a single-channel interface. The highest officially supported memory speed is 4800 MT/s, but with overclocking (and the right memory modules) you can go even higher. For communication with other components in the computer, Processor N97 uses a PCI-Express Gen 3 connection. This processor features the UHD Graphics 730 integrated graphics solution.
Hardware virtualization is available on the Processor N97, which greatly improves virtual machine performance. Additionally, IOMMU virtualization (PCI passthrough) is supported, so that guest virtual machines may directly use host hardware. Programs using Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX) will run on this processor, boosting performance for calculation-heavy applications. Besides AVX, Intel is including the newer AVX2 standard, too, but not AVX-512.
