    Some pics for your enjoyment:

First, the card in all its glory after removing that good for nothing single slot cooler Sapphire uses:

The RV670 Core after cleaning all the thermal paste goo from it:

Qimonda RAM modules (8 of them, 1ns I believe?)

The back of the card (notice the Rialto chip):

That ugly ass stock cooler :p
    [IMG]

Starting to look better don't you think?

    Impressive!

Now it's really ready for use, I used AS5 instead of the goo Zalman includes with its cooler btw:

These pictures were taken the day I got the card :)
intel igent and lemonadesoda say thanks.

My Zalman VF900 Cu lowered the temps from 45°C idle/77+ under load with stock cooler, to 36°C idle/60° under load.

I guess a Zalman VF1000 would lower the temps one or two degrees more, but it's not worth the extra mony IMHO ($39 vs $70+ for a couple less degrees)

You could also try water cooling I guess, dunno how much of a wise investment that would be considering your proc will seriously bottleneck this card though...

    @warlock,

Could you please show us a benchmark or two of your setup. I am also on Q6600 G0 and AGP, but with ASROCK Conroe865PE. I'm thinking about the 3850 also.

I'd be grateful for FurMark v1.3.0 and CINEBENCH 10 OpenGL test.

    Thank you kindly!

    Sure, NP :)

    FurMark v1.3.0: 2942
    [IMG]

Now, I just downloaded Cinebench, and I get this everytime I try to run it:

Is there any special instructions on how to run this benchmark? It's the first time I've tried it, and it crashes every single time, I find this weird, as my system is perfectly stable at everything else I run, do I need a command line or something to run it? :ohwell:

EDIT: had to upload the Furmark screenie again, as I had not clicked on the "Contest Mode" box to validate my result :wtf:

Nevermind, I made a mistake while creating the shortcut on my desktop :p

I ran the benchmark at default settings:

Of course, took this screenshot a couple of days ago, I don't have the pro version of 3dmark, so all I can offer is a scrennie of my ORB result as that's the only way Futuremark allows you to see your score when using the free ver of 3dMark06, even though it's not necessary for 05 or 03:

10708, less than 300 hundred shy of 11,000 at stock :) When I get my new proc cooler and find out how to OC this board beyond the driver's limit (720/950), I'm pretty sure I'll be able to push this baby some more :)

    Looking good...

I can get to 300FSB max in BIOS on the Conroe865PE.... which is 2.7Ghz, not a lot of overclock, but something. I think the 865PE wont take much more, Captain!

    £150! :twitch:

    Why don't you just get a 9600GT and get a PCI-E motherboard. That's what i'm gonna do, seen as my Gecube X1950XT isn't working.:banghead:

I'm trying to hold out for Nehalem and I don't strictly need a new GPU but my new A05B arrived today so it's going to be even harder not wanting to buy a complete new rig.

I'll hold out for the 3850's to drop in price as price cuts are on their merry way.

Now, do I move my friends set up into my new chassis?
