It's not every day new hardware, or as in this case, new TWS earbuds, are leaked by an airline, but in this case, Lufthansa has jumped the gun and leaked the upcoming Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 earbuds. This happened courtesy of the airline's WorldShop website, although by now the product listings have been removed. However, courtesy of several publications online picking up on the leak, we now know what to expect from Sennheisers next generation of TWS buds.

Designwise the changes are fairly minor, with the most noticeable changes being in the addition of a graphite colour option, with black and white still sticking around. The charging case now supports the Qi wireless charging standard, which should appeal to some potential customers. Battery life for the earbuds remains at 7 hours, with a further 28 hours or four additional charges provided by the charging case. It takes about 90 minutes to charge the earbuds in the charging case, which also sports a USB-C port. The earbuds have support for Bluetooth 5.2, but there's no mention of Bluetooth LE audio support. On the other hand, SBC, AAC, aptX and aptX Adaptive are supported. The Momentum 3's also supports hybrid adaptive ANC with four microphones per earbud, which should be a step up over the previous generation. The Momentum True Wireless 3 are said to launch later this month and the MSRP should be around €249 or around $275.

final is an established audio brand that has made its name over the years, with the S'NEXT company it belongs to claiming several engineering designs and patents in addition to a solid reputation in the consumer and professional audio markets as a whole. We took a look last year at what I thought was final's first TWS (True Wireless Stereo) set of IEMs, but apparently that being a collaboration meant it did not count in terms of wholly representing the final brand. As such, final informed us recently that it had indeed been working on its own vision of a first TWS product, which is named the final ZE3000. Sound quality and comfort were prioritized in the design process, and accordingly the use of a single driver was done to avoid phasing issues. The driver itself, a full-range dynamic driver with a new 6 mm adhesive-less injection molded diaphragm, a special silicone surround and a CCAW (copper-clad aluminium wire) voice coil, aims to provide extremely low distortion while at it.

This "f-core for Wireless" driver unit is paired with final's proprietary f-LINK damping system to regulate the air pressure change inside the enclosed housing without introducing a vent. The advantages allowed come in the form of the necessary TWS components not affecting the air pressure regulating system necessary to make the most of the driver, as well as maintaining IPX4 environmental resistance that is crucial for TWS solutions today. The NFC Forum, the global standards and advocacy association for Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, announced today that its Board of Directors approved and adopted the Wireless Charging Specification (WLC) 2.0. The WLC 2.0 makes it easier and more convenient to charge low-power devices such as wireless earbuds, smart watches, digital stylus pens, headsets, fitness trackers and other consumer products using smartphones and other NFC-enabled devices at a power transfer rate of up to one watt. It allows for wireless charging by enabling a single antenna in an NFC-enabled device to manage both communications and charging.

What's new with WLC 2.0 is that it supports even smaller antenna sizes expanding the range of small, battery-powered consumer and IoT devices that can be wirelessly charged using smartphones and other NFC-enabled devices.
