Virtium Announces Availability of StorFly M.2 SATA 6G SSDs

Virtium, the embedded industry's trusted supplier of highly reliable infrastructure SSDs and industrial memory modules, today announced the availability of its StorFly M.2 SATA 6G (SATA III) solid state drives (SSDs). Delivering an optimal storage solution for embedded infrastructure-based applications that require high performance in a small form factor, Virtium developed two M.2 modules.

Standard StorFly M.2 modules are available in 42 mm (2242) and 80 mm (2280) lengths, with 60 mm and 110 mm modules offered as customer needs dictate. Engineered to provide superior endurance and extended product lifecycles, the new StorFly M.2 SSDs are optimized for a broad variety of embedded applications including networking base stations, industrial automation equipment, casino gaming and data logging systems.

Virtium Introduces Second Generation StorFly SATA SSDs

Virtium, the embedded industry's trusted supplier of highly reliable infrastructure SSDs and industrial memory modules, today introduced its second generation StorFly SATA 6G (SATA III) solid state drive product family. Virtium's Gen2 StorFly SSDs family is available in 2.5 and 1.8-inch SATA, M.2, mSATA, Slim SATA, and CFast form factors. Designed to meet the diverse storage requirements of mission-critical embedded applications, Virtium's second generation StorFly SSD products provide superior endurance and are engineered for extended product lifecycles. The new StorFly products are optimized for the data types and workloads of a wide range of infrastructure applications including networking, communications, industrial, remote monitoring, transportation, digital signage and gaming systems.

Greatly minimizing the need for costly product requalifications, Virtium's StorFly PE Class SLC-based SSDs will maintain stable configurations for at least three or more years enabling OEMs to realize a considerable total cost-of-ownership (TCO) advantage. The new StorFly SATA SSDs deliver four times the read performance, along with improved error-checking and correction (ECC) and wear-leveling capabilities, providing greater levels of reliability and endurance compared to the first generation StorFly SSDs. The new StorFly designs also support SMART commands and feature Virtium's vtGUARD power fail protection technology to protect against potential data corruption as a result of an unexpected power loss.

Virtium Announces DDR4 VLP RDIMM Products

Virtium, a leading provider of embedded SSD and industrial memory modules, today announced its embedded infrastructure market support for DDR4, and the company's initial DDR4 RDIMM products. As one of the first to offer DDR4 memory modules, Virtium's embedded industrial OEM customers are able to have early test and development access to the lower power, high bandwidth and density benefits of this latest DRAM technology. Delivering significant power savings of up to 40% and up to twice the bandwidth over DDR3, the new DDR4 modules from Virtium are excellent solutions for server blades, networking and telecom applications.

Virtium is a proven innovator of VLP (Very Low Profile - 0.72-inch or 0.738-inch) and ULP (Ultra Low Profile - 0.70-inch) memory modules for space-constrained applications. Continuing Virtium's exclusive support for the embedded infrastructure market, these first DDR4 modules are offered in the lower profile ULP RDIMM height in capacities ranging from 4 to 16 gigabytes (GB). The new DDR4 modules feature low 1.2 V configurations with data transfer speeds of 1866 MT/s.

Virtium Expands TuffDrive Embedded SSD Portfolio with SLC-Based Products

Virtium, a leading provider of embedded SSD and industrial memory modules, today announced a comprehensive expansion of its TuffDrive eUSB embedded solid state drive (SSD) product portfolio. Virtium's expanded line of TuffDrive SSD products includes the industry's highest capacity SLC-based 10-pin eUSB module at 32 gigabytes (GB), and high-performance, fully locked bill-of-material (BOM) eUSB keys. Designed for the faster performance, higher capacity and increased product longevity required by today's intelligent embedded systems, Virtium TuffDrive eUSB products are optimal storage solutions for primary and boot storage in networking, server, embedded, industrial and transportation applications.

Virtium Introduces DecaStor SSDs in 80 GB, 160 GB, and 300 GB Capacities

Virtium, a leading provider of storage and memory solutions for industrial embedded systems, today introduced its DecaStor line of solid state drives (SSDs). Designed to help embedded systems OEMs rely on a ready supply of SSDs in hard-to-find capacities, Virtium DecaStor 2.5 and 1.8-inch SSDs are ideal storage solutions for applications designed around 80, 160 and 300 gigabyte (GB) capacity points. DecaStor SSDs also feature 10-channel controllers, which deliver compatible transfer speeds for a wide range of networking, industrial, in-flight entertainment, PoS terminals, gaming equipment and mobile monitoring systems.

"Most of our OEM customers design their applications around specific capacity points," said Gary Drossel, vice president of product strategy at Virtium. "Migrating to different capacities is not as easy as it is in the client space and often creates the need for software changes that must be re-qualified. Virtium saves industrial embedded OEMs from this software effort with drop-in 1.8 and 2.5-inch SSD replacements previously offered by suppliers that are now opting to pursue the data center and client markets."
