Packaging and Accessories

The product box for the FiiO FW3 adopts a relatively simpler packaging compared to more expensive FiiO products and the design reminds me of the KA5 portable DAC/amp we recently saw. It uses a glossy, iridescent finish applied in gray and gold colors to a thin cardboard box that has the new FiiO logo on the front in addition to the product name and a render of the TWS earphones. More branding is seen on the sides, including with the customary FiiO authenticity checker in case you suspect someone has decided to make fake versions of the FW3, with relevant features on the back. It opens up to reveal a thicker cardboard box that has a pamphlet on the top with paperwork in the form of a detailed quick start guide, (online copy here), a note on how to wear the IEMs, and a warranty card.


A plastic blister inlay underneath has three compartments for the various other items including ear tips which come separately placed on holders. I took the liberty of removing the pre-installed size M FiiO HS18 tips with the ultra-thin flange as well as more generic thicker flange silicone tips. Both sets come in sizes S/M/L to make for a decent ear tip selection—especially for TWS IEMs that barely come with any. There's also the expected short USB Type-C to Type-C cable to help charge the FW3 case.


The FW5 is more expensive and gets the more traditional thick black FiiO packaging I was expecting to see. Note also the Snapdragon Sound certification logo now placed on the front here rather than on the back with the FW3. There's a render on the front, the authenticity sticker on the side, and marketing features on the back to retain a similar design language as on the FW3 box. Inside we have thick foam with machined cutouts for the various items and paperwork is found underneath instead. The quick start guide (online copy here) is useful to go over here too and we see the same cable and ear tip selection provided here in addition to two cleaning brushes as seen above.
