Introduction

V-Color Logo

Established in 2006, v-color is a Taiwanese-based memory manufacturer focusing solely on desktop and server memory applications. Having entered the US market at the start of 2015 and steadily growing in popularity since, v-color is no stranger to the deeply competitive and often overcrowded market of DRAM. Today, we have the opportunity to test the new v-color Manta XPrism RGB SCC DDR5-6200 packaged with a dummy RGB kit.

With the launch of Intel's 12th Gen Core processors and accompanying LGA 1700 socket now months behind us, new DDR5 memory kits are starting to emerge. v-color waited a bit before jumping onto the DDR5 train. The company has multiple product lines to fit a wide range of consumer needs. v-color currently has two DDR4 options available. These SKUs include the Prism Pro and Skywalker Plus series. Moving forward to DDR5, Prism Pro has been rebranded XPrism with an accompanying new line of memory called Golden armis. These are both available in RGB 32 GB (2x 16 GB) configurations rated for 5600 MT/s and up.

DDR5 is the new buzzword in the tech world as it continues making headlines and breaking world records. The cycle continues as we are entering the end of the DDR4 reign. For the casual user, leaving behind DDR4 isn't always beneficial. For those who want an in-depth look into the trade-offs between the two, TechPowerUp already has an article with an in-depth comparison of DDR4 and DDR5 performance on Intel's Alder Lake.

v-color may just be entering the DDR5 market, but is already aiming for a place among the industry leaders. The v-color Manta XPrism RGB SCC DDR5-6200 memory kit I have for review today fills the gap between bleeding-edge, ultra-low latency memory and run of the mill DDR5. Boasting timings of 36-39-39-76 at 1.3 V for its 6200 MT/s X.M.P profile, v-color gets creative with the naming as SCC stands for Speed Booster Cost Effective and Colorful Makeover. Included in this review sample is a dummy kit to provide the full 4-slot RGB experience without sacrificing performance. We are going to take a look and see how this v-color Manta XPrism RGB 32 GB 2+2 kit performs!
