New Found Efficiency in AM2

AMD is showing off new levels efficiency in its newest socket. AMD claims 37 per cent better performance a watt of the new AM2 processors than their socket 939 counterparts. AMD Also claims that Athlon 64 X2 dual core desktop chips will give 154 per cent better performance a watt than its older variant. Dual core chips may only use a relatively low count of 14 watts.

This could help AMD compete with Intel's new Conroe CPUs.

Yeah, I'm guessing that the improved efficiency will help overclocking, giving AM2 a slight edge over Conroe for tweakers. I love the Nvidia/AMD alliance :p. I can't wait until these things really come out, and then we can see how AM2 stands.

i'd say a 15 watt athlon 64 x2 is damn good competition for nearly anything... yonah, step aside!
