Swiftech Launches a SATA Powered 8-way PWM Splitter

Swiftech announces the release of an 8-Way PWM splitter with SATA connector, the function of this device is to connect up to 8 PWM devices (fans and/or pumps) to a single PWM fan connector on the motherboard, thus enabling speed-control of all connected PWM devices simultaneously. Swiftech recommends users to make use of the "CPU_Fan" connector of the motherboard, because most motherboard manufacturers usually allow a greater range of adjustments on this particular connector. Swiftech states that the SATA connector employed by the device, eliminates many of the problems encountered with the typical Molex connectors found on such devices, however it leaves us guessing what those problems are and which of them are addressed by their SATA solution.

(1) Female 4-pin mini-connector
(1) Male SATA connector
Peel-off sticker

RoHS compliant

They include one of these in each Swiftech H220, actually a really awesome device for hiding your fan cables as well drawing power from the PSU directly instead of through the motherboard.

I'm confused, you mention Scythe twice. Who's product is this, Switech or Scythe? Or is it manufactured by Scythe for Swiftech or something?

Or if you just want all of the fans in your computer to be controlled by the single CPU PWM connector.

You should really try those meds, even if you will do it for one day only. Who knows, perhaps things will be different, can't be really worse, so lets try. What do you say?

I'm wondering why the fan headers aren't angled 90 degrees, since then you could have mounted it on the back of your motherboard tray. Now that is just not possible unless you have over an inch of space between the side panel and motherboard tray. Some NZXT cases got something like that if I remember correctly.

What? There is a constant problem. Mobo only has 1 or 2 full PWM headers. If you have a rads, this is perfect as you will have full 12v power. Plus the ability to control PWM via CPU header.

No one has anything like this. I use 2 of these and they are fantastic.
As for mounting I have it in my ODD bay, as it pushed farther in and have more room. Even in my case there is still room behind mobo, if the case you use is good and have clearance behind mobo.

I've been looking at one of these for a while. I didn't think they were new.

I was going to use it to power non-PWM fans. Will always let me upgrade later.

Ideally, for my setup, pump goes on the RPM passthrough header, pwm source for radiator fans is then driven off of CPU temp via BIOS.

If you use non-pwm fans on the Swiftech it will always run at full speed.
That NZXT one still has no control of the fan. it is just a hub with no control. Better to get a fan controller instead for non-pwm fans.

Yeah that was the one I had in mind as well, just couldn't find it.
But the bummer with that one is no PWM connectors, just 3-pin connectors.
Mounting inside a 5.25" bay seems like a solid option eventhough you probably need to drill holes to screw it in.
