Kodak and Sony settle digital camera patent lawsuits by cross-licensing each other's technology

Kodak sued Sony back in 2004, claiming that Sony had infringed on it's patents on digital camera technology. Since then, Kodak and Sony have been counter suing for the control of 10 patents. Sony and Kodak have officially settled by starting a cross licensing agreement, so that both companies have the rights to use the same technology.

hopefully all the other companies wanting to use these patents opt to pay kodak the royalties rather than sony, i quite find the sony Brand a turn off due to the over inflated prices for inferrior products when compared with other products.

I find that Sony offers very nice products at very reasonable prices most of the time. They offer arguably the best TVs on the market, the best consumer digital cameras, and of course one of the most feature packed next gen consoles on the market along with the second cheapest.

i used to agree with the tv's and computer monitors but now alot of other brands have overtaken sony on both for features and quality now i find sony's pricing down to the sony name brand but now id have to say samsung has overtaken sony in every segment.

The Sony SXRD is considered by most experts to be one of the best viewing experiences possible. The fact that I just picked up a 60" SXRD for $2300 doesn't exactly help your position of them being overpriced at all. Samsung doesn't have anything even close to competing with that.

Samsung has overtaken Sony in every segment? When did Samsung start making video game consoles? Do they even make digital cameras? I wouldn't buy a Samsung notebook over a Sony on a dare.

I will agree that Sony doesn't always have the best products on the market, but their products aren't inferier in any market. Sometimes they are overpriced, I will give you that, but when you can find a deal on them, they are great. The same holds true with every electronics manufacturer out there though.

Im glad they could settle this dispute amicably. Crosslicensing is a great idea. Im glad it worked out for the best.

Best TV's on the market? You've never looked at a Bang and Olufsen set obviously! Best picture I've EVER seen, hence the massive prices... you can even spend £10k on a PAIR of floorstanders which each weigh the same as me, 85Kg :rockout:
