NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang's Earnings Cut by a Small Margin

NVIDIA's co-founder and current CEO Jensen Huang will be receiving a slightly reduced salary this year, due to his company not meeting some financial goals. Team Green has published their report for the financial year of 2023, and several tech news outlets have been poring over the details - The Register was the first to spot that the intrepid leather jacketed leader was not being as handsomely compensated (when cross-referenced with previous FY results). Huang's pay has been cut by almost $2.5 million, so a 10% fall from before - given that he is already a billionaire, going into double digits, this verdict is a minor sting to the proverbial (matching leather?) wallet.

The company's annual review (for FY 2023) document provides a reason for select executive pay cuts: "Fiscal 2023 was a challenging year, with macroeconomic headwinds, channel inventory corrections, COVID-19 and product architecture transitions affecting several of our businesses. As a result, our Fiscal 2023 revenue and non-GAAP Operating Income performance fell short of the CC's (compensation committee's) pre-established goals for executive compensation." Huang will not be hurting too much from the small pay cut since he is set to earn $21.356 million in total, thanks to generous stock awards and miscellaneous benefits outside of his base salary (now a mere $996,216). NVIDIA is expected to rake in even more cash across the coming year, or two, due to growing interest in artificial intelligence (AI) processing. Tech companies are snapping up NVIDIA's enterprise-grade H100 GPUs in anticipation of an AI-powered future.

Huang may have to dip into his savings to make ends meet this year.

But really, the cut in compensation is meaningless to Huang since his net worth is around 26 billion dollars.

We live in a greedy little world,
That teaches every little boy and girl
To earn as much as they can possibly,
Then turn around and spend it foolishly
We've created us a credit card mess
We spend the money that we don't possess
Our religion is to go and blow it all
So it's shopping every Sunday at the mall
All we ever want is more
A lot more than we had before
So take me to the nearest store

Can you hear it ring
It makes you want to sing
It's such a beautiful thing, ka-ching
Lots of diamond rings
The happiness it brings
You'll live like a king
With lots of money and things

I'll take the old worn jacket because I do not like fake people. That is the Super Rich and he really does not care about how paltry is salary is. His passive earning are probably in in the 5 to 10 million in range per year. And of course he will use this loss when tosses the information to his accountants. So it's a win regardless.

I went from getting a 1050ti at 150$, to getting a 3050 at over 300.. This guy has billions, and lost a few million? I used to love nVidia, but this dude is clearly a dominatrix, and I'm tired of getting f**ked. I'm not sure which safe word to use, Intel or AMD?

While his salary is high, it's probably the most sane salary out of all the CEO's between Intel, Nvidia and AMD. Considering Nvidia wealth and how well the stock generally performs, it is not really that high compared to Lisa Su or Pat Gelsinger's.

In comparison, Lisa Su, AMD CEO, makes anywhere from 25% to 50% more.

www.salary.com/tools/executive-compensation-calculator/lisa-t-su-salary-bonus-stock-options-for-advanced-micro-devices-inc?year=2022

Her salary triples the next executive closest to her.

Pat earned 178 million but I suspect much of that had to do with a sign on bonus.

Not his fault directly, it's the stockholders and bean counters who apply pressure to make yearly profit increases, and corporate greed. The kind of increase stockholders want to see is no longer feasible today without extreme cost cutting and fleecing the consumers. These suited c#nts are to blame for the current GPU prices, and it's not only nvidia. AMD followed suit in all bad practices, from horrendous pricing to moving cards up the products stack. 6600XT should be 6500XT, 7900XT should be 7800 and so on, but higher number justifies them asking for more $$$. Pricing is not as bad as nvidia (yet) but let's be real - the 7900XTX is not a 1000$ card - should be 650$ tops - same with the RTX 4080 it competes with.

I guess he didn't accelerate computing all that much this time around, so a pay-cut he gets.
