Porsche Design and AGON by AOC Unveil Gaming Monitor PD34

Porsche Design and AGON by AOC, one of the world's leading gaming monitor1 and IT accessories brands, announce their latest collaboration: the gaming monitor Porsche Design AOC AGON PRO PD34. This new 34" (86.36 cm) curved QD-OLED gaming monitor combines the conceptual excellence of Porsche Design with AGON by AOC's expertise in cutting-edge display technology. The ultra-wide PD34 with its 1800R curvature is engineered to meet the exacting standards of both professional users and enthusiast gamers, offering a blend of performance, precision, and style that reflects the heritage of both brands. Porsche Design conceptualised the design of the PD34 by referencing the radiator grille of a Porsche 911. The PD34 sets new benchmarks in the ultra-wide monitor segment with its fusion of form and function.

Crafted for visual excellence and competitive edge
At the heart of the PD34 lies a meticulously engineered 34" QD-OLED panel, featuring a UWQHD resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels in a 21:9 aspect ratio. This ultra-wide canvas offers an expansive view for both gaming and professional applications. With an exceptional 0.03 ms GtG response time and a blistering 240 Hz refresh rate, the PD34 delivers motion clarity and responsiveness that matches the precision of Porsche's automotive engineering. This combination ensures crystal-clear rendering and ultra-smooth motion, even in the most demanding esports scenarios, giving competitive gamers the edge they need to perform at their peak.
Performance in every pixel
The PD34 boasts impressive visual specifications. Its peak brightness of 1000 nits, coupled with the VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification, ensures exceptional visibility and practically infinite contrast ratio thanks to the per-pixel illumination of the QD-OLED technology. The display's ability to reproduce 1.07 billion colours, covering 100% of sRGB, 99% of AdobeRGB and 99% of the cinema-grade DCI-P3 colour space, is matched with a factory-calibrated, remarkable colour accuracy. This expansive colour gamut makes the PD34 suitable for both immersive gaming experiences and professional colour-critical work in fields such as graphic design and video editing.

Engineered for seamless motion
The low input lag of the PD34, coupled with Adaptive-Sync technology, including both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certification and NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, ensures a fluid visual experience. This technology works to eliminate screen tearing and stuttering, providing uninterrupted immersion. The result is a gaming and working experience that is not only visually stunning but also responsive and engaging, certified with VESA ClearMR 13000, the top tier metric for motion clarity. Gaming-specific features include a Frame Counter and Dynamic Dial Point, a customisable crosshair overlay that can change colour to remain visible against any background.

Design that speaks volumes
The monitor's aesthetic draws inspiration from the iconic design language of Porsche. Its sleek profile and premium materials echo the sophistication found in Porsche interiors and exteriors. The 21:9 aspect ratio of the display evokes the wide, driver-focussed layout of a dashboard, while the monitor's controls are as intuitive and responsive as the centre console. The monitor's design further features a sandblasted aluminium cast stand, reminiscent of the steering wheel and wheel spokes of a 911, while the back side of the monitor is inspired by its radiator grille. The height-adjustable stand (130 mm) with tilt and swivel options offers ergonomic flexibility, allowing users to find their optimal viewing position, much like adjusting the driver's seat. Adding to its visual appeal, the PD34 features AOC's Light FX with RGB illumination offering 15 different modes, creating an immersive ambiance for any setup.
Connectivity worthy of a command centre
The connectivity suite of the PD34 is comprehensive and future-proof. It features 2x HDMI 2.1 ports for current-gen console support, 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 3x USB 3.2 downstream and 1x USB 3.2 upstream ports, and 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port with 65 W Power Delivery. The integrated KVM switch and Picture-by-Picture (PbP) mode offer additional versatility for multitasking professionals. The PD34 seamlessly integrates with AOC's G-Menu software, allowing users to easily adjust OSD settings and monitor features.

Acoustic excellence
Dual 8 W speakers certified by DTS deliver an audio experience that complements the visual prowess of the PD34, providing rich sound without the need for external audio setups.

The Porsche Design AGON PRO PD34 is available from 18 September 2024 in Porsche Design stores and at specialist retailers as well as online at porsche-design.com and in selected online shops at an RRP of £999.

I wonder how much the Porsche mark-up on the price is.
Design wise i just don't see a very big difference to other Agon monitors if the price is much higher.

If I don't begin to see 5120x2160 ultrawides soon, I'm going to have a meltdown. We've literally got 7680x2160 57" monitors, 8K monitors, 5k monitors, 45" 3440x1440 monitors, 5120x1440 super ultrawide monitors, and LG even has a 2560x2880 (the "dualup") monitor, but we can't get a 5120x2160 34" monitor? What gives?

That's it, I'm putting an image of a Porsche on my monitor and then I can call it a "Porsche design". Nothing about the monitor says Porsche is involved whatsoever with the design.

If I showed my daughter this monitor and the images she'd tell me I'm stupid for saying that it's a Porsche Design (other than having their logo on it). She knows more about high profile cars than most people that drive them (it's amazing how much info she has in her head about these cars) and dazzles these people with her knowledge when they try to toss out some obscure fact that she already knows and then goes on to tell them things about the car and/or company they didn't know.

If you have to tell people what about the design is related to such a company then the design is a failure.

Where? I just don't see it. Maybe I'm just simple minded in this aspect, but there is nothing Porsche inspired on this monitor. I'm not sure who I feel worse for, Porsche Design (company is owned by Porsche) for not being able to make anything look like it ties to Porsche on their designs or Agon for continuing to work with them.

Well, whatever is actually happening here these things must be selling well enough to keep folks wanting more....look at all the other Porsche "themed" items that have come across the TPU news over the past few years for PC related stuff:

I think they mean this? Which… kinda? Vaguely?

It’s a stretch, admittedly, but this is the only thing I can remotely guess as to what they mean.

Well, I think I am going to go with a nice 4K OLED T.V instead next time, they are cheaper and they perform just as well, monitors have become way too overpriced.

There is the new Dell 40" U4025qw, but it's $2KUS, although a lot better value in Australia at $2.3KAU.

Personally though I'd like to see even a 3840 x 1680 say in the 34" UWA format. This still has lower dpi than a 32" 4K at, 123dpi, but is still an improvement over the 109dpi of the 3440 x 1440 and provides a healthy real estate upgrade that wouldn't really require a change to scaling from 100%.

My ideal monitor would be 38" version of the Dell with 2304 zone miniled, HDR1400 120Hz, dp2.1, 100W+ PD and 146dpi.
