Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026.
We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game.
With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.
We look forward to sharing more information with you soon.

A 6 month delay seems fairly significant. I look forward to hearing what caused the delay and the chaos this delay will create for publishers that were trying to avoid releasing games around GTA 6

Rockstar, and Bethesda cannot count to six. Valve cannot count to three.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was further delayed to around Christmas 2026.

AAA "We're working on THIS! Get excited!" game reveals all seem to get delayed by about a season change, IMHO.

PS6 supposedly being announced next year, just a little more and we can have 2 full console generations without a new GTA game. Hell, we can get the 5th, 6th re-release of GTA 5 while we're at it, I kind of lost count.

Even though there was a confirmation earlier this year, that Fall 2025 release is confirmed, only lunatics and media believed that.

why not just wait til november 9, 2027… they can fix the bugs, and release it at the same time as ps6/ps6pro… (remember when CP 2077 was released?, buggy mess… but two years later, awesome game.)

or OMG, our programmers just finished playing cyberpunk 2077, and started asking why doesn’t GTA 6 look like that… (or the gta6 trailer, lol)… more time needed…

"remember when CP 2077 was released?, buggy mess… but two years later, awesome game"

To quote BeatEmUps: "Cyberpunk has much larger issues that cannot just be fixed or patched out over time, infact I really do wish the game didnt release with all these bugs because they overshadow how bad the core game actually is."

It is not even a shadow of what it was claimed to become, did not even for 10% live up to the hype, all those comparision videos to GTA San Andreas on the PS2 still hold up because Cyberpunk is a big nothing burger of a game.

It pains/depresses me that consumers say anything possitive about this, it just sends all the wrong messages.
And we just saw it again with the Oblivion remaster, gaming is just screwed and the consumers are at fault.
Thank god we still have rare gems like Split Fiction....although they are going to make a movie about that soooo yeah.....

My thoughts about it, the leap from GTA V to RDR2 was rather significant. They want to keep making those leaps and they want to do it with pride. They got the cash so they can delay it as long as it takes. I'd be really curious how far they've compromised from original scope.

Yep, how quickly people forgive after only getting a portion of what was promised. Recent comments by CDPR's CEO don't instill confidence that any lesson was actually learned either but then again that's to be expected, none of the c-suite was actually punished.

The AI is still god awful, there's no faction system, no mass transit system, no weather outside rain and one scripted sandstorm, and probably most crucially the game is not filled with deep branching quests. It feels more akin to a Skyrim in terms of complexity, the complete opposite of what you'd expect from a gritty Cyberpunk game.

I just waited as it should be excepted their can\will be bugs in a new game. Goes for 99% of released games and even more so those on a very large scale.

The benefit is that the game should be more polished and now developers know the exact date to either crunch to beat or push back their launches. I say silk song releases June 2nd 2026.

Also, we aren't going to be told it. At best someone leaks it. The public reason given today is what most involved will say

No way the PS6 is coming out next year. PS5 pro just came out in november of 2024. Sony will want to milk that bit for a minimum 3 years. At best 4. Yes a majority of developers aren't squeezing out all the performance possible out of the PS5 Pro and rely more on hardware to brute force things (this includes software like upscalers and dlss things) but sony isn't going to want to release new hardware architecture in 2 years.

You believe GTA 6 will be in development hell and never release? I'd take that bet agaisnt you

The PS6 will get it before we get it on PC. Not like it matters for me—I sold my PC. I’m just saying. 2027+

Bought it last year for like £20 so I've enjoyed it for the cost but I watched back all the promo and hype and it's like the game was never finished. The more I kept playing the more I realised how incomplete this game really is compared to any Rockstar open world.

I'm GLAD I wasn't one of the people originally excited for it.

Rather Rockstar take their time with GTA 6 and not become Cyberpunk 2.

I bought cyberpunk at launch and really enjoyed it. It's much better now, but even back then i liked it - got sucked into the world and had a bunch of fun - writing and story was good. I gauge the quality of a game based on how immersive and fun it is. Same as movies -- I enjoy some objectively "bad" movies (i.e. Fifth Element - love that movie).

There are some "masterpiece" games like RDR2 that I know personally 2 out of 15 of my friends have actually finished the rest got bored halfway through and put it down, including myself.

The issue I felt is the obvious missed potential for no reason other than time crunch. Rockstar's games might not appeal to everyone but they are as complete and polished as Rockstar can make them without taking a decade to make a game (except for GTA 6 apparently). I always wonder what Cyberpunk could have actually accomplished based on what we've seen modders manage to do with their limited resources. :shadedshu:

What the hell is wrong with Cyberpunk now? I swear, some people just love to throw shit around just because they can, without any valid or logic explanation or reason.
Cyberpunk is one of the best games ever made and it's not even a contest.

And Split Fiction is a rare gem? Lol :laugh::laugh:That garbage cannot even be played single player, so thanks , but no thanks. I love my offline games and the possibility to play without hassle.

If you want a rare gem, I would say Avowed fits right in. Now that's a game that I can recommend to anyone.

I too got bored pretty quick with RDR2 after a couple of playing...I never understood the hype for that game, I found it the most boring and anost game ever tbh.

Now I know one Romanian word more.

And about GTA VI... IV and V felt like movies rather than games. If R* want to make GTA VI worth something it should CONCEPTUALLY differ from them. I'm afraid they'll never do that and we'll be left with a "game" with a lot of sad things going on. Release date? Who cares at this point?
