Google Phone Expected by Mid-2008

Internet giant Google is close to unveiling its long-planned strategy to announce Google-powered phones to market by mid-2008, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter. Within the next two weeks, Google is expected to announce advanced software and services that would allow handset makers to bring Google-powered phones to market by the middle of next year. The Google-powered phones are expected to wrap together several Google applications - among them, its search engine, Google Maps, YouTube and Gmail email.

Ugh... like I say all the time. Google in 2 years will be what Yahoo is today. And I don't mean that in a good sense.

My father works for google. As far as I know, or what they internal search engine says (which is called moma), there is no physical gPhone, but a software package for window based mobile phones. As for the O/S, google employees has the option to use Goobuntu, which is a custom Ubuntu (i believe based on 6.10), from booting the live o/s via the internal network, then running the installer.

all depends on my old man...he is still has the laptop that was provided before google bought the company he works for. He said that end of the year he will get a new laptop, but he wants a mac, and i dunno if goobuntu works on the mac ( i think only on there thinkpads, for they have network boot).
